DIY Spa Treatment: Depuffing Cucumber Honey Eye Nourisher

From making your own bubble bath to a wide variety of ideas for creating your own body scrubs, isn't it apparent that I love me some DIY formulations? Recently I came across this Cucumber Honey Eye Nourisher recipe from celebrity esthetician Christopher Watt for Honey.com, and immediately realized it was a perfect addition to our DIY coverage. Not only does this four-ingredient mask help reduce puffiness around the eye area, but it also soothes and cools the delicate skin surrounding your peepers.
To make, first steep chamomile tea in boiling water and set aside until cooled. Blend together one tablespoon aloe vera gel, two teaspoons peeled and seeded cucumber, and 1/2 teaspoon of honey in a blender or food processor. Next, add 1/2 teaspoon of chamomile tea and blend until smooth. Each batch makes four treatments and can be stored in an air-tight container for up to a week.

A friend who shall remain nameless shared a confession over brunch this past weekend: when she has houseguests, she switches out her Kiehl's shower gel for a drugstore cleanser. She views the Kiehl's as a treat, and after a guest once used half of it in one sitting, she now hoards and hides it for her own use. I'd like to say that I don't do this, but I've hidden my favorite soap from my pre-teen nephew. (Sorry, buddy.) It isn't the most generous behavior, and I am ashamed, but at the same time, sometimes you just need to set something aside from yourself. Would You Wear Perfume With Real Musk or Civet in It?

I know that most of you aren't fans of animal testing, but what about animal ingredients? Traditional fragrance ingredients like musk and civet are taken from musk deer and cats, respectively, and entail killing the animal. Aside from the ethics involved in killing animals like these in the first place, there's also the fact that there are lab-synthesized versions of these substances available. And yet some of the most expensive perfumes still use the real things because they're of a higher "quality." What do you think? If you were presented with a pricey fragrance you knew had one of these ingredients, would you keep it, or send it right back where it came from? And do you look for animal ingredients when you're shopping for a scent?
