Coming Soon: Clinique Play in the Darks Collection

If you're part of TeamSugar's Clinique Clique, you already know that Clinique has an easy-to-wear color collection along with its famed skin care line. If not, its fall colors are reason enough to get acquainted with Clinique's eye shadows, mascaras and lip colors.

The new items won't be in stores until August, but I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at Clinique's new Play in the Darks collection. It's all about "blackened color," but not in a goth, I-hate-my-parents way. Instead, the hues are rich, saturated and smoldering. I think this collection will be a big hit because its colors are intense but not heavy, so they're wearable whether you're 17 or 71. One of Clinique's best-selling items is Almost Lipstick in Black Honey, a universally flattering deep rose that has a huge cult following. That's why I was so excited to find out about a new limited-edition shade called Black Plum. As a sister shade to Black Honey, it's perfect. It's just slightly darker, but because it's sheer, it isn't too much.

Another new product is Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss, a larger and more moisturizing version of Superbalm Tinted Lip Treatment. It comes in eight shiny shades, including a gorgeously glistening magenta called Raspberry that I have to try!

For a country as large as Brazil, it's no surprise that each region has its own traditional recipes and dishes. Regional cuisines have been influenced over time by immigrants and what natural crops are available to them. In the North, you will find caruru, a dish featuring okra, onions, shrimp, peanuts, and palm oil, and in the South, you'll be able to sit down to a plate of lasagna. The Northeast enjoys a stew that has been made for 300 years, while the Southeast is more accustomed to meals featuring rice and beans. Become a Color Connoisseur With Pantone's Pretty Palettes For 2013

According to the PANTONE VIEW home + interiors 2013 book, there are nine color palettes predicted to dominate interior design and furniture trends in 2013. A mix of muted palettes serve as the new classics while rainbow-inspired colors provoke bolder style statements.

The first palette in Pantone's 2013 lineup, Connoisseur, draws from cool neutrals like alyssum white and beechnut green, contrasted with warmer tones of violets and orchids, liquid pink, and deep mahogany, all set against accents of champagne beige and silver. The palette puts a fresh spin on old-world elegance, with decorative pieces that layer texture. It's refined and sophisticated with just the right amount of understated drama.

Nina Ricci Fall 2012

Peter Copping makes channeling the seductive edge of Parisian chic nearly effortless with Nina Ricci's Fall 2012. Set off in rich berry hues and a decidedly darker palette, Ricci is still all woman, only sexier. Where we're given ladylike shapes - cinched waists and full skirts, Copping finishes in sultry sheer, luxe fur, and leg-baring slits or cutout necklines. Tweedy fabrics in the sexiest iterations banish every image of traditional skirt suits reworked in curve-conscious dressing and patchworked with hints of lace. We get the playful references to lingerie dressing, but with every dose Copping's looks are all crafted with charm. A hint of floral print, pinks and pastels - even on heels finished with sparkly embellished straps - punctuate the black chiffon and deep plum hues giving way to a delightful girlishness in all the grown-up glamour. That's not by accident - Copping explains his inspiration for the collection as "a little girl playing dress up." At its core, that's what it is; it's all romance - both a fully modern, but deeply romantic idea of womanly dressing and a nostalgia for our days of dressing up in mom's closet.

Ferragamo Fall 2012

Strength and seduction ruled Ferragamo's Fall 2012 collection, both in its tailoring and sensuous color palette, and we have creative director Massimiliano Giornetti's fascination with Czarist Russia to credit. Specifically, the designer focused on the gilded elite from two distinct views, as seen in the strict, clean lines of the military-inspired silhouette and in the softer, sheer fabrics of the delicate lace dresses. In marrying the two ideas, we saw an interesting, albeit ultra-elegant, juxtaposition of pretty plum and mauve-hued frocks styled up with structured outerwear, diaphanous gowns paired with tough leather accessories, and opulently embroidered sweaters teamed up with long, luxe sergeant coats. At the heart of it all, though, the Fall '12 lineup was an excellent showcase of romantic, ladylike pieces, each perfectly adorned with equally charming chokers, velvet boots, and bright gold buttons. DKNY Fall 2012

Dedicated to the Beat Generation, DKNY Fall 2012 showed a collection filled with strong silhouettes, pretty details, and even some shearling and fur. Designed with a city girl in mind, these seemed dedicated to the working city girl - skirt and jacket looks were belted for a crisp look, and coats were edged in leather. Ashley Greene, Nina Dobrev, and Coco Rocha were seated in the front row, watching the models come in literally off the street - the show was sat in a cavernous garage-like space with double-doors that opened out onto the sidewalk, allowing the models to walk in. Minus the fact that it was freezing out, it made for an energetic show.
