Cargo Goes High-Def With blu_ray

Last month I mentioned that Cargo is coming out with blu_ray, a new collection of makeup specifically intended for people who have to go on high-definition TV broadcasts. Because HDTV is so much sharper than regular television, it has the unfortunate tendency to display every pimple, scar, wrinkle, and imperfection in glorious detail. Hence the demand for makeup that provides full coverage without looking cakey.

blu_ray attemps to solve this problem by using irregularly sized particles to diffuse and soften light, along with pigment that reflects light from different angles. The collection includes a liquid mattifier ($24), oil-free pressed powder, mascara ($20), a peachy pink blush/highlighter ($27), and mint-infused lip gloss quad ($29). Each product can be bought separately, or if you can't get enough of them, they're available in a good-value set ($59). It's not the biggest collection Cargo's ever done, but it's the first makeup I've seen that's specifically being developed for a new television technology.

Stunts, Relationships, and Light Jets: TRON: Legacy Behind the Scenes

Tron: Legacy hits DVD and Blu-ray next week (April 5), and not only does the five disc combo ($50) come with the original TRON feature film, but it's also packed with extra footage and bonus features.

I've got a sneak peek at a few behind the scenes featurettes, one showcasing Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund as they practice their stunts and fighting sequences, while the other focuses on the Light Jets. Check out both clips after the jump.

Pandora's CES Product Domination

Despite an uptick in competition (ahem, Spotify) Pandora isn't budging in its quest for online radio domination, as seen in the dozens of products they're embedded in at CES this year. Cars are the theme this year, as they announced 23 automotive partnerships for 2012. Can we expect a Pandora system in every new car sold now? Just about.

Look to BMW, Mini, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Acura, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Toyota, and Scion for Pandora embedded in the car, using voice commands or dashboard controls. Car stereo manufacturers like Alpine Electronics, Audiovox, Kenwood, and others throughout the year will roll out in-dash receivers featuring the streaming music provider.

Pandora's also integrating beyond smart TVs, with Sony's new line of WiFi-enabled Blu-ray players. Don't forget there's also the Samsung refrigerator we saw at last year's show, so you'll never have to be without streaming music again.

Sony Spices Up C Series Laptops With Two New Lid Colors

It's a new year, new look for Sony's laptop lineup. The company announced two new lid colors coming to its affordable and portable Vaio C Series: Kaleidoscope Pink and Modern Geometric.

Both colors are customizable for the 15.5-inch model, while the bright pink will be an option for customizing the 14-inch screen size as well. If you're not familiar, the Vaio C starts at just $759 with customizable specs, including Intel processors, RAM, updated graphics cards, and hard drive sizes up to 750GB. You can even add a Blu-ray player/burner for an extra $150 if you want to watch your discs on the go. The standard battery lasts up to seven hours, but you can upgrade to a larger lithium ion battery for a whole 10 hours of juice.

While many of you may have gone HD a while ago, I was content with my old, boxy TV for years. But thanks to a great Black Friday deal, I finally decided to upgrade. However, since I've never owned an HDTV before, I know that my TV upgrade saga isn't over.

In the midst of filming an amateur movie, Joe (Joel Courtney) and his teenage friends witness a catastrophic train crash in the small Ohio town where they live. Soon after the crash, the town is plagued with bizarre occurrences, including the disappearance of townspeople, and the kids set out to solve the mystery. Though the buildup to revealing the secret of the wreck is more satisfying than the aftermath, the film's young cast shines throughout the length of the film. The Blu-ray DVD includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the crash scene.

Retired spy and family woman Marissa Cortez (Jessica Alba) is forced back into action when evil villain Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the world. Her mission provides her with the unexpected opportunity to bond with her two stepchildren, who join her in her attempt to defeat Timekeeper. Though the film is full of interesting gadgets, the story is dull and much of the humor falls flat. The DVD features deleted scenes and an interview with director Robert Rodriguez.
