To bob or not to bob: That is the question. After all, as versatile as long hair can be - elaborate updos to easy ponytails - there are times when we may long for shorter tresses . . . like while hitting the snooze button early in the morning. In order to satisfy this internal struggle, I've searched for some of my favorite celebrities with both bobbed and not-bobbed styles to compare. Take a look at the matchups I've found and decide which you find more suitable.

Did Heidi Klum Cut Her Hair?

Same day, two very different lengths. At the grand opening celebrations for Victoria Secret's new flagship store in NYC, Heidi Klum wore her hair long and wavy for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Later, at the cocktail reception, she sported some serious red lipstick and a trendy shoulder-length bob - aka the "lob," or long bob.Perhaps it was a little hair tucking and some pinning trickery. Or could it be possible that Klum used those ginormous bedazzled ceremony shears to chop her locks into a fashionable shoulder-grazing bob? Hmm - can't tell just yet. Regardless of how it was done, (quickie cut in-between appearances?) which look do you prefer on Klum? Are you a fan of her traditional long, model-y locks or do you like this bobbed style best?

What About Bob?

News flash: The Beckham bob (and its many copycats) is on the way out. According to many superstar stylists like Garren, Ted Gibson and Tommy Buckett (who works out of Sally Hershberger and is a personal favorite), collarbone-length hair is where it's at for Fall. While some are going for conservative takes on the length, a la Gwyneth "GOOP" Paltrow, most of the stylists interviewed prefer a choppier version. According to the article, those who went for the power pixie are either growing it out to this length (Anne Hathaway, Jenny McCarthy) or snipping even shorter (like Katie Holmes and Beckham herself). The former is much more universally flattering (and weather appropriate). Will you go for it?

What Color Hair Do You Like Best on Rachael Leigh Cook?

I had no idea that Rachael Leigh Cook was so adventurous with her hairstyles and hair color until I started rummaging through pictures of her from the past few years. Back in the day, she switched back and forth from brown to red, but over the weekend at the Step Up Women's Network Inspiration Awards Lunch in Los Angeles, her hair looked lighter than ever. Plus, it was cut into a Louise Brooks bob. I'll admit, this isn't my favorite style on the starlet, but she has such a beautiful face that I don't think she could ever look terrible. Which hair color do you prefer on Rachael?

What's Your Take on the Bob?

When Posh chopped her long locks into an angular platinum bob, she was a trendsetter. When Katie Holmes quickly copycatted the style, the bob craze was officially in full swing. And now Jenny McCarthy has updated hers by adding blunt bangs. I think it is a great cut for certain face shapes, but definitely not for everyone or every hair type. How do you all feel about the bob? Are you still into it, or are you over it?

The results from our last Rebecca Gayheart poll suggest that you prefer when she wears her hair wavy. But how do you feel about straight and short? It looks like girlfriend has jumped on "The Pob" (Posh bob) bandwagon and got herself an angled bob. Originating in the 1920s, the bob is a short, blunt, and classic hairstyle in which the weight of the hair falls between the ears and chin. It can be styled with or without bangs and in various lengths, but a proper bob never grows past the shoulders.

I can only imagine the joy that Anna Wintour must be feeling now that her signature haircut is setting trends. As they say, fashion, beauty, and history are cyclical and this time around, Anna is ahead of the game. This hairstyle is sometimes called the pageboy, and its first swell of popularity started with actress Louise Brooks.

This short, chic style especially flatters those with round and square face shapes. I wonder how long this trend will last, but with Katie Holmes and Mary J. Blige on the bandwagon, something tells me more A-listers will follow suit soon.

How-To: The Hocus Pocus Bob

If you want to trick everyone into thinking that you have short hair this Halloween, or if you just like to play around with different styles without succumbing to scary scissors, this fabulous look is for you!

Last week's issue of Us Weekly featured a faux new 'do seen on Eva Longoria, Molly Sims and the newly blonde Nelly Furtado. Angelina Jolie is wearing this hairstyle on the set of her latest movie, Changeling, too.

This look is easy to achieve, even for amateurs-especially if you follow my four simple steps. To read the details on how to get the hocus pocus bob, read more

STEP 1: Pull hair back into a low ponytail with a hair tie that blends in with the color of your hair. (Goody makes some inexpensive ones.)
STEP 2: Tuck the ponytail under and secure it with bobby pins to hold your hair firmly in place.
STEP 3: Next, pull a generous amount of hair from the tops and the sides to create the illusion that your hair is down.
STEP 4: Lastly, curl the loose hairs with a curling iron so they shorten and look more voluminous. Mist your entire head with hairspray and then loosely pin back any extra long hairs to create an overall shorter appearance!
