Burberry to Launch Its Own Cosmetics Line

If you already love your Burberry trench, scarf, bikini, and handbag, get ready to add makeup to your collection, because WWD is reporting that the company has just announced the colors for its cosmetics line, which is slated to arrive in July 2010. Philippe Benacin, chairman and managing director of Inter Parfums SA, says the collection will be "a complete color line with about 100 references for eyes, lips, and skin" and will be carried at Nordstrom. My question is, though, how will Burberry create makeup that's any better than what a company that specializes in the products does? I assume they'll be using colors that hearken back to the brand's heritage, like Burberry tan, but are you interested in having your eye shadow match your knockoff? With Emma Watson currently the line's face, it seems as though the brand is making a grab for younger buyers, which means less-expensive products like makeup. Hopefully they'll try to bring quality and design to the table as well.

Coming Soon: Burberry Gets Ready To Launch The Beat

I don't quite know all of the details yet, but from what I understand, Burberry is getting ready to launch its sixth fragrance called The Beat in March. The scent is said to be a woodsy, sparkling and tea-infused (how very English!) juice created by Dominique Ropion, Olivier Polge and Beatrice Piquet.

It contains notes of iris, bluebell, ceylon tea, bergamot, cardamom, pink pepper, mandarin, vetiver, white musk and cedarwood - and to give you an idea of the pretense under which it was born, the perfumers were given modern rock music for inspiration.

Perhaps that's why the Fratellis played at the December 3rd launch party in London! The face of the fragrance is Britain's most up-and-coming model, Agyness Deyn, and I love how her rocker look plays into the theme.

The Beat is an eau de parfum, and will be available in three sizes: 30 ml ($50), 50 ml ($62) and 75 ml ($80). Additional bath products such as a 40 ml elixir ($130), a body lotion ($39.50) and a shower gel ($35) will also be available. I'm looking forward to checking this out, because Burberry is definitely ramping up its cool quotient with this one.

TGIF! Burberry Weekend For Women

This decade-old fragrance from Burberry just received a packaging face lift! The ever popular Burberry Weekend Fragrance for Women now has a modern logo and Burberry's iconic checkered trimming adorning the bottle. The outer packaging has also been given a sunny, soft yellow tone as well as an updated metallic check.

Although the outside of the bottle has changed, the scent remains the same. It's a fruity and woodsy blend of tangerine, peach blossom, nectarine, reseda, rose, iris, red cyclamen, blue hyacinth, sap, cedarwood, sandalwood and a touch of musk.

The Burberry For Women product range includes Eau de Toilette sprays in 100ml ($68) and 50ml ($52) sizes, a body lotion ($32) and a bath and shower gel ($30). The next time you are getting ready for a weekend getaway, be make sure to pack your Burberry Weekend with you!

Burberry's New Summer Scent

Burberry Summer, $58, is a yummy limited edition fragrance that will actually only be for sale from April to May. This is a much lighter, sweeter and more citrusy scent than the classic perfume - and it comes in a cute pink preppy bottle!

The design of the bottle and the packaging was inspired by the essence of an English summer day. There is a soft pink nautical rope logo on the bottle and the outer packaging is crisp white with a cute pink and white check design.

It is made from: mandarin, bergamot, grapefruit, green apple, water lily, freesia, rose, cedarwood, sandalwood, white musk, vanilla and a hint of moss; it is available in a 3.3 oz spray for $58 and a 1.7 oz spray for $47.
