Can we be frank? Hickeys are the worst. Nothing says, "I am wholly uninterested in looking like a classy dame" than a big ol' bruise on the neck.

To quote the immortal lyricists of Def Leppard, love bites — and sometimes it leaves a mark. With Valentine's Day coming up, it seemed like the right time to revisit that teenage rite of passage: the hickey. My friend recently got one from a makeout sesh and was none too happy about it, which inspired me to pass along some nibble-hiding makeup tips.

For one of us, it was the best of times, for the other, it was the worst of times. (Well, not that bad.) Two members from Team Bella had two very different experiences after trying the new Stay Don't Stray ($24), the new paraben-free multitasking primer from Benefit. This moisturizing pre-makeup, which also includes vitamins C and E, is applied on both the under-eye area and lids to give concealers and eye shadows long-lasting, crease-free results.

Here's an excerpt from OnSugar blog Beautopia:
LORAC Double Feature ($24) is a multi-tasking complexion perfector with an interesting design. The product comes in two parts; the swivel-up concealer stick and the doe-foot wand style vial of highlighter.
The twist-up stick is a creamy and pigmented consistency and it covers well with minimal creasing as the day goes on.

Continuing our series on covering up under-eye circles once and for all, we come to the workhorse of the dark circle destroying team, the concealer. The conventional wisdom on under-eye concealers is that you use something thick, with yellow undertones and as much long-wearing capability as you can get. And while this is certainly not a bad school of thought, there lots of other options that include interesting twists on the old standard.

Here's an excerpt from OnSugar blog The Make-Up Blogette.
One reader was asking me if nude lips can be created using a foundation/concealer followed by a lip gloss... and I thought that would make a rather fun and useful blog post.
First I used NYX Concealer in a Jar (Porcelene) which is frankly too pale for me as a concealer. This color erases my lip color completely, too pale and ghastly for my liking. It also looks drying, especially on the lower lip.

It was a big MAC attack in the concealer category this year, although Benefit and Laura Mercier also got rave reviews. It was surprising that the drugstore standbys didn't rank higher, but I have to agree that pricier concealers do tend to be creamier.
For a drugstore alternative, though, we like the Maybelline Age Rewind Double Face Perfector concealer ($7).

First thing in the morning, you might mistake me for Bride of Fester. Fortunately, thanks to concealer, my undereye circles and blemishes are hidden. In the seemingly never-ending quest for the perfect concealer, I'd like to know your favorite.

Confession: upon first receiving It Cosmetics's Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer ($24), I have to admit I judged a book by its cover. It did look, after all, a little infomercial-ish. Of course, seeing that on my most tired of days, I experience extremely hard-to-cover dark purple under-eye circles, I will give any coverup a shot — anytime.

For those of you that are fans of Max Factor's Lasting Performance Stay Put Makeup (RIP, old buddy), perhaps you might find somewhat of a replacement in Maybelline's new SuperStay 24hr Makeup ($10). The consistency, which lies somewhere between Revlon's ColorStay and Lasting Performance (see my comparisons here), skews more on the slightly creamy end of the spectrum, so it's quite easy to blend.
As for the wearability factor, SuperStay definitely delivers, although by the end of the day, I did have some slick spots in the t-zone.
