As far as Fall nail polish trends are concerned, I foresee lots of hot pinks, mushroom tones, smoky metallics, burnt oranges, deep, intense greens, and the return of purple — but with a little less smoke and a little more attitude. As far as textures go, think mattes, creams, and brushed, velvety finishes. But, if you're a fan of the shimmer, don't fret.

At last night's Guess boutique party, Michelle Trachtenberg dished on the relationship drama we'll come to see on the next season of Gossip Girl. But that's not all she revealed; turns out, M.T. has a nearly photographic memory when it comes to her character's manicures.

With the recession showing no signs of slowing down, it's going to be a while until buying expensive baubles is back in style. But that doesn't mean you have to give up the glamour. WWD reports that nail-polish brand Essie is teaming up with luxe jewelry designer Judith Ripka for a small color collection.

I've heard of matching nail polish to toes, lipstick to nails, even polish to jeans, but lipstick to panties? Umm, that's a new one. However, if you're planning something just that coordinated with your intimates, Hanky Panky's got something stashed away for you: two new sets with free Essie nail polish.

Are you always on the pursuit of a great nail polish line, particularly when it comes to color selection, chip resistance, and its ability to stick around longer than a nanosecond? Well, reader Sara Rose is psyched about Essie Nail Polish ($7), and here's what she has to share:
"I didn't think that this polish was going to hold up to my other two champs — OPI and Chanel — but it does, and at a great price too. Around here, OPI retails at $9 to $15 and Chanel from $24 to $38.

It's safe to say that when it comes to nail polish, black is the new neutral. But if glossy darkness is beginning to bore you, here's a cool way to update it. I ran into a friend the other day and loved her nail polish so much that I had to snap a picture:
She got this look by using a base coat, then slicking on two coats of Essie nail color ($8) in Licorice.

Get a load of these six, sexy, shiny, and rich fall nail polishes from Essie. They sell for $8 each or you can buy the set for $45. Instead of being ultratrendy — think neon, dark, or metallic — the colors are a collection of modernized classics.

We've been seeing a lot of hot pink nails lately and we've heard everyone go on about neon nails, but the only one who's really been wearing any of the other super-bright shades has been Rihanna.
I predict that all of this is about to change. With the warm weather setting in and Lindsay Lohan getting on the orange-nail bandwagon, something tells me that this trendsetter is going to jump-start a neon-nail bonanza.

Check out the neon nails on Diane Kruger! Ever since the Costume Institute Gala I've been dying to talk about how she matched her shoes to her nails.
Celebrities and especially teenagers are going bonanza over the new fun, pop-colored nail polish quads from Essie and Chanel.

Although the new Summer 2008 Essie Nail Polish Collection isn't inspired by the girls of The Hills, the colors are similar to the Zoya Gossip collection. The range contains six sexy coral, rose, orange and pink shades perfect for adding a punch of happy color to your nails or toes. Don't let the provocative names scare you off; even good girls need to shake things up a little bit in the summer.
