Fragrance Review: Calvin Klein Eternity Summer

Continuing with tradition, Calvin Klein will release this year's warm-weather version of the classic Eternity fragrance next month. Eternity Summer is a seaside-inspired remix of the original, spiced up with notes of bamboo, crushed basil, and jasmine, with base notes of musky neroli and ginger root.

It's an unusual and compelling blend of ingredients, but I can't say this one is going to be on my must-have list. At first it's hard to tell if Eternity Summer is complex or just confused. It hits the nose with a shockingly sweet floral burst, and further sniffing reveals a hint of spicy-sweet ginger combined with a very faint muskiness. It's too faint, unfortunately, to balance out the saccharine scent.

Eternity Summer is an attempt to achieve complexity by adding new ingredients, but it doesn't stray far from traditional floral freshness. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it didn't wow me. The upside is that this is a strong scent, so a few sprays will stick around for most of the day. This wasn't the right perfume for me, but if you're looking for a bright and bold summer floral, you can pick up a bottle of Eternity Summer by Calvin Klein ($52) at Macy's starting in April.

As old superstitions fade and Emily Post-like etiquette evolves, you're probably not counting the number of roses or orchids or hydrangeas you received today (or, like most people, didn't). But the number of roses a man once gave a woman held hidden meanings, so check out what your Valentine either intentionally or, more likely, unintentionally told you today.

One rose: Love at first sight, or years later "you are still the one."
Two roses: Mutual love and affection . . . so you may owe him two roses!
Three roses: The traditional three-month anniversary gift also simply means "I love you."
Six roses: Infatuation, or "I want to be yours."
Nine roses: A big jump up from six, nine roses symbolize eternal love or "I want to be with you forever."
10 roses: A perfect 10 means "You are perfection."
12 roses: A dozen is like picking the best heart from a Sweetheart candy box, it means "Be Mine."
13 roses: Thirteen may be a baker's dozen, but not so in love. Its meaning is actually disputed: Teleflora says it means you'll be friends forever, but several other sources, like Love Letter Box, say it means you have a secret admirer.
15 roses: Does he have a reason to apologize? Because 15 roses means "I'm sorry." If not, take it as credit for future remorse.
20 roses: The red starts to get excessive around 20, and supposedly that means "Believe me, I am sincere toward you." Usually, sincerity does not need to be proved with quantity, but that's just me!

We don't know anyone who didn't spend part of the '80s singing Whitney Houston songs (for me, "How Will I Know" got me through my first 8-year-old crush). The only artist with seven consecutive multiplatinum albums, Whitney had one of the most unforgettable voices in music and was incredibly beautiful to boot. Whitney passed away Saturday, just before the Grammy Awards, in an unexpected death that came far too early. Her passing is a tragedy, but we'll be eternally grateful for the music - really, the soundtrack to so many parts of our lives. That said, we're honoring Whitney the best way we know how: with a look at some of her most gorgeous moments on and off the red carpet. Note: one image is NSFW.

"He Won't Buy Me an Engagement Ring"

My boyfriend had been hinting to me about getting married and starting a family. He has been divorced before but no kids. I don't know if he's joking or not but I think he's trying to tell me that he won't get a diamond ring for me. He told me he thinks a diamond ring is pointless because it's expensive and there's no meaning behind it. He would rather use the money for something else. My boyfriend is not cheap. He's generous and spoils me. We love each other very much but this is bothering the hell out of me. I have told him that a diamond ring is something that symbolizes marriage, eternity, and I like jewelry and diamonds!

I am 25 and he is 35 and this will be my first marriage if we do tie the knot. I know the ring isn't the most important thing in this relationship but it's part of tradition and I like jewelry.

McAdams blended several shades to create Sofia's. Her base coat was CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Eternal ($7), and then to create the perfect color, she topped that with CoverGirl Blast Flipstick in Vixen ($9). This isn't the first time Sofia's worn Eternal, either; McAdams has tweeted about using it on the actress before, so clearly Ms. Vergara is a fan of the shade. For $7, you might well become one, too.

First Look at Doctor Who PlayStation 3 Game

Ready the controllers and clear some room in your personal TARDIS, the Doctor Who PlayStation 3 game is inching closer to a place on the retail floor. Below is the first look at Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, slated for release in the first half of 2012.

As you'd expect, players travel through space and time as the Doctor and River Song, it's not so easy though - the actions of one era directly impacts play in another era. In addition to PS 3, the game will be available to PlayStation Vita and PC consoles.

Watch PlayStation's trailer for the video game that is very much a tease featuring the voices of Matt Smith and Alex Kingston (who plays River) after the break.

It's the eternal hair quandary: you need a way to contain your mane, but there's no elastic to be had for love or money. If you're currently looking for something - anything - to hold your hair back, there's an easy solution that's effective and almost certainly available. Simply use a twist tie. You know, the ones you usually find at the top of bread bags and other food products.

Just twist it around your hair the same way you would to seal a bag, then wrap the loose ends around to conceal them. It might seem goofy, but no one will be able to tell the difference. Besides, they won't tear your hair out like a rubber band, will work on any texture or thickness, and are just about ubiquitous. In fact, if your hair is hard to hold in clips or bands for styling, try substituting a twist tie; everything will stay exactly as it should.

I'll admit it: I'm a sucker for New Year's resolutions. I get swept away with the promise of a fresh start and new beginnings. Treat Yourself: You have to set up some kind of system to reward yourself for good behavior. For example, if you're trying to cap your spending limit, figure out what kind of fun budget-friendly alternatives you can do in lieu of getting your satisfaction from expensive activities.
