Fab Flash: The Cruz Sisters Are Designing Women

No way! Is this every pair of sisters' dream or what? I've just heard that Penélope Cruz and her younger sis Monica are set to design a 25 item clothing collection for the Spanish chain Mango. The line will include accessories and also feature an ad campaign in which Pen and Mon will star.

This is not the sisters' first attempt at design. In the past, they have also created jewelry and handbags for the Japanese company, Samantha Thavasa. However, this is their first stab at clothing.

Mango approached the Cruz sisters in their attempt to expand their presence in the U.S. The plan is to roll out 250 new stores over the next ten years.

Fab Flash: GAP Gets Creative With Whites

We love it when huge companies team up with designers to bring affordable high fashion to the masses. It has been reported that Gap Inc. has commissioned three of the 2006 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners to design a limited edition collection for their stores.

The designers are: Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, Doo-Ri Chung of Doo.Ri, and Thakoon Panichgul of Thakoon. The idea behind all of this was inspired by Gap's white shirt campaign.

We don't know all of the details, but we do know the designers were given a classic Gap white button down shirt to create something exceptional with.

The shirts (among other items) will launch alongside the white campaign. I don't know about you, but I am really excited to see what's to come. Stay tuned for more details!

Fab Flash: Kate Moss's Future Appearance at Barneys

In support of her new collection for Topshop, it was just announced that on May 8th Ms. Moss will be coming to Barneys New York!

Barneys will be the only retailer carrying her Topshop collection in the US. In the past, Barneys has sold other Topshop pieces, such as Stretch Skinny Jeans, which have been extremely successful. To bring even more drama to the event, the famed Simon Doonan will be installing the windows for the collection.

Julie Gilhart, Fashion director of Barneys New York, is pretty stoked about the line. She has already set aside a grey t-shirt that is embellished with metal studs as well as a little chiffon dress - lucky her!

Fab Flash: Gisele Y Ikatu Xingu Footwear Collection

Since 2001, Gisele's footwear line called Ipanema has sold over $100 million dollars worth of sandals! The line is inspired by the legends of the Brazilian Indian people and the sandals are now available in Malaysia.

However, instead of just celebrating these legends, it has been reported that the shoe manufacturer, Grendene, has decided to help them too.

The Kisedje Indians have a campaign called "Y Ikato Xingu" which is aimed at preserving the waters of the Xingu River and the forests that protect this sacred and necessary water. Portions of the profits from the footwear will be donated toward the campaign.

This new collection of shoes comes from a graphics workshop that began in April, which gave the Kisedje's and Gisele a chance to create a unique product.

Gisele is responsible for handpicking the tribal images found on the inner-soles of each of the sandals within this collection, which includes footwear for women, children and babies.

So Gisele is a supermodel and philanthropist? She sure makes it hard to hate her!

Fab Flash: More on SJP's Bitten Clothing Line

Sarah Jessica Parker may be a lady of luxury, but she wants to bring fabulous clothing to the masses at affordable prices. Since we already know that her clothing line Bitten will be inexpensive (we're talking each article under $20), now we can all dress like SJP!

The collection was named after her reaction to walking into a Steve & Barry’s store for the first time - she was "bitten." She then decided to collaborate with them to create high-quality sportswear for women of all ages and sizes at a fair price.

It has been reported Bitten will make its official debut on June 7th, only at Steve & Barry's stores. The line will consist of approximately 150 styles and over 400 clothing items and accessories such as: knit shirts, wool and cashmere sweaters, dresses, lingerie, denim, handbags, jewelry, belts and of course...shoes!

The tagline for the collection is: "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right." I'll second that! This is just soooo exciting!

Fab Flash: Vodianova Joins Moss In David Yurman Ads

It has been reported that Calvin Klein muse Natalia Vodianova, is going to join the ranks as a David Yurman model in the Fall ad campaign alongside Kate Moss. The ads are scheduled to be shot later this month in St. Bart’s.

David Yurman is a New York based jewelry company renowned for its twisted cable-link pieces in silver and gold which are often fashioned with diamonds and colorful stones.

Past campaigns have featured: Amber Valletta, Naomi Campbell, Riley Keough, Daria Werbowy, Ed Burns, and, most recently, Naomi Watts. To see some beautiful images from past ads, read more

Finally, a bit of British holiday in the heart of New York City! Heidi Klein started in London in 2002 with a vacation-centric store. The founders, Heidi Gosman and Penny Klein both appreciated how difficult it was to shop for holiday essentials and a well fitting swim suit. The vision of the company is to "Help women look fantastic and to get organized before a holiday."

The boutique, which has opened on the Upper East Side in NYC is reminiscent of a relaxed, calm and chic high-end vacation spot. The walls are white and accented with beautiful sheer white curtains which make you feel like you are in a cabana. They sell: women's swimwear, beach cover-ups, kaftans, flip flops, tops, sarongs, hats, sunglasses, bags as well as pieces for men and children.

There are several styles of bathing suits available such as: bikinis, one pieces, tankinis and maternity suits. There are also two fabulous mix and match lines called Essentials and Provence which we all know is great for those of us who don't have perfect proportions! What I love about the suits is that they provide full coverage in the rear, but are still quite posh and sexy.

The suits are available in bold and fun prints as well as nautical stripes and classical colors. Fab Flash: SJP Is Bitten By The Fashion Bug

Yay, it's official! We have just learned from The Daily that Sarah Jessica Parker is set to launch a clothing line called Bitten. This afternoon she will be hosting a private luncheon at the famed Indochine restaurant in New York City, for an exclusive group of editors to take a sneak peek at her duds.

For those who have been lucky enough to previously view the collection, it is being compared to the fashion line developed by the Olsen twins called The Row.

I am sorry to report that I have no further details about price point, target audience, and manufacturer just yet but I promise to share every bit of information as I learn more.

What better woman, fashion icon and role model to design clothing of her own - this news is actually making me giddy! SJP recently accompanied Alexander McQueen to last year’s Costume Institute gala and she has been a muse to Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez. In addition, in 2004, she was awarded the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards.

Fab Flash: Marc Jacobs Is Back In Rehab

Oi! Gevalt! Marc Jacobs has checked himself into rehab...again. WWD reports that after seven years of stone cold sobriety, the designer recently relapsed and has decided to undergo a second round of in-patient rehabilitation for drug and alcohol abuse.

The day after showing his latest LV collection at Paris Fashion Week, he immediately left and checked himself into a private treatment facility in Arizona. Jacobs has publicly acknowledged substance abuse problems in the past.

It has been reported that "Girls Gone Wild" is launching an apparel line with a cheeky tag that reads: "When Clothing Isn't Optional!"

Joe Francis, founder, at the age of 23, of the ten year old business called Girls Gone Wild believes that his new line of apparel will be worth anywhere from $40 - $60 million within the next two years. His empire is currently worth approximately $100 million.

The clothing consists of two sportswear lines called: angel and beach, a swimsuit collection designed by Ashley Paige, and a super sexy intimates collection. The hemlines are short and the bikinis are skimpy - this is a line for a girl who's not shy.
