Get Sienna's Beauty Look from Factory Girl

With all of the controversy surrounding the movie Factory Girl, one thing is for certain: Sienna Miller looks gorgeous - well at least for the first half of the film. She plays the charismatic fashionista and heiress, Edie Sedgwick, who lives an incredible life of highs and lows in the fast lane. Her wish to become a 'superstar' came true as soon as she met the quirky and famed artist, Andy Warhol. As soon as Andy took one look at her he was inspired.

She had a waif-like body and a bright smile, but it was her eyes that were really the focal point of her face. She wore thick black eye makeup with lavish lashes, pale lips and a cute as a button penciled on beauty mark. FACE: You'll want to create a balanced, clean looking face for this look. Make sure you exfoliate your skin, moisturize and then apply a color that blends well with your natural skin tone such as Nars Balanced Foundation in Santa Fe, $40.
EYES: First, swipe a white eye shadow all over your lid. Next, carefully take an angled eye shadow crease brush and dip it into a black matte eyeshadow. Using a windshield wiping motion, blend back and forth starting from the outside crease working your way to the inner corner of your eye. Ultimately, there should be white along the lash line, a definitive black arch in the crease, and white on the upper eye area; you will want to see white shadow both above and below your blended black line. This is an old school style of the smoky eye.
Next, line your upper eye lids thicker than ever before. Using a liner such as FLAT Liner Flat Automatic Eyeliner Pencil by Physician's Formula in Black , $5.95, will help you get the 4 1/2mm width you'll need. Then line your lower lids and concentrate the thickness toward the outer corners. Finish with two coats of LashFusion™ Micro-Technology™ Pure Protein Lash Plumpin Black, $39, and of course...dramatic falsies!
CHEEKS: Since your eyes are really going to stand out, you want to keep the rest of your face looking healthy and natural. Try using Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Tempting Beige, $39.50.
LIPS: Sienna's makeup artist kept her lips a very pale nude or pink matte color at all times - after all, that was the look back then. M.A.C Lipstick in Myth, $14.50, is a pale muted peachy beige color that should do the trick as would, Bare Escentuals i.d. Lipstick in Baby, $15. Skip lip liner and gloss.
BROWS: Brows were very thick and dark in the movie. Use a heavier product such as LORAC Brow Wax in Brunette, $16 for this dramatic look.

Proenza Schouler Gets Their Wartime On

Backstage at Proenza Schouler, war was on everyone's mind. No, not in a political way - this is Fashion Week, after all - but in an aesthetic way. "The inspiration was how women looked so glamorous during wartime, when they were working in the factories but still had their red lipstick on," said makeup artist Diane Kendal. "It’s a very modern approach; it’s not an obvious translation of Rosie the Riveter."

To bring forth a bold red lip, she blended MAC Red lipstick, set it with powder, dusted Red MAC Pro pigment on top, then topped it off with Red Electric MAC Pro pigment to give it that neon pink punch.

The hairstyles also took inspiration from the past, but in different ways. Some models wore their hair parted to the far side, letting long matte waves fall in front of their eyes; others had shiny, slicked-back, short styles. "We looked to 1920s glamour for the long-haired girls, and late 1970s disco for the short-haired girls," explained stylist Omar Lopez. To create the long-haired look, the hair team sectioned off hair, then used the ghd IV mini styler to create waves. A spritz of ghd Sea Spray created a matte effect, and then stylists used metal clips around the face to set the curl. Turns out that using a little retro technique can create a look that's thoroughly modern overall.

Christian Dior Cruise Collection 2008: Backstage Beauty

Last night in New York City, Christian Dior put on a fashion show to unveil John Galliano's 2008 ready-to-wear cruise collection. The look of the show was very 1960s mod, reminiscent of the looks we saw on the runways for fall and of Sienna Miller in Factory Girl.

The clothing was full of color, and the hair was bouffant and dramatic. Stylist Orlando Pita either created beehives or teased hair at the crown and placed a thick headband high on the forehead. Renowned makeup artist Pat McGrath also created magnificent mod looks on all of the models.

Face: Yes, these models have great skin, but that's also part of this look. For a flawless face, begin by using Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen to conceal dark circles and blemishes, then apply DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation to create a beautiful semi-matte canvas.
Cheeks: All of these girls have a teensy bit of tan enhanced with a slight pink flush on their cheeks. Perhaps they were using Dior Bronze Sunshine Blush in Sunrise Party 001. Take a blush brush, swirl it across all four colors, and sweep the blush starting at the apples of your cheeks and working your way out toward your hairline.
Eyes:Since this looks is all about mod, the eyes and lips and the central points of focus. This new and very cool Dior Logo Palette is all that you are going to need! Start by applying the white shadow all over your lid. Next, choose either the pink or the purple and apply it on your lid stopping before the crease. Take the rust color and apply just a little bit for definition in the crease.
Next, heavily line your eyes by wetting the black shadow and drawing a line that will run from the inner corner of your eyelash line and extend out to create wings. This is going to be a heavy line, so be prepared to go over it a few times until you reach your desired length. Also, remember that the line gets increasingly thicker as you work your way outward. Then, line your lower lids and concentrate the thickness toward the outer corners as well.

Once you are finished with the black, take the white shadow and run it along the rims of your lower lashes to really make your eyes pop! Finish with two coats of the new Diorshow Black Out Mascara and an extra-long set of false lashes.
Lips: Line your lips with a pale pink liner, such as Dior Lipliner Pencil in Heather Rose, then fill in your lips completely. Next, apply a light layer of sheer nude/pink lipstick, such as Dior Addict Ultra Shine Sheer Lipcolor in Shiniest Beige, all over the lips. Lastly, take a tissue and blot lips once for a more matte finish. Do not use lip gloss for this look.

Trend Alert: Heavily Lined Eyes

Heavily lined eyes have been a part of beauty for decades. The trend began in the 60's mod era, and we can see it recreated by Sienna Miller playing Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl. Since then, it's made appearances in the 70's, in bright colors in the 80's and again in black in the 90's. Now in 2007, stars are wearing this look on the red carpet.

Lined eyes make a strong statement and are usually seen in shades of black, gray and slate. You can either create a cat eye with a winged tip, a smoky eye, a smudged rocker look or even create a dramatic and dark lower line with a hint of metallic like we saw for the Fall 2007 Luca Luca Show. Nowadays you can't go wrong with a sexy, heavy eye-and that's the bottom line.

New York Fashion Week, Fall 2007: Jill Stuart

The look at Jill Stuart was Mod, baby. Fashion is repeating itself and we are clearly in the 60s again. We've already caught glimpses of Sienna Miller's Mod looks from Factory Girl and know that stores have been carrying mini shift dresses for months. On to the good stuff...

Main silhouettes were swingy 60's inspired pea coats, hot pants and high waisted pants. Patent leather accents, bows and fur trim were key details. There were also playful hoods contrasted with plunging necklines on cocktail dresses. Colors were bold: black, electric blue and purple.

As for hair, think Marcia Brady. Center parts with straight hair that looked neat but not overdone. Hair was loose, not pin straight and teased in the back just a tad to give a messy effect. Most models had very long hair. For those who didn't, they were given the same style sans any extensions or falls.

Makeup was also reminiscent of the times. Models wore pale pale lips, which looked almost milky colored and cheeks were also pretty bare. They had a touch of contour to them, but no pop of color at all.

Eyes were grey and smokey with heavy black eyeliner around the rims. Mascara was especially dark and thick with tons of added fake eyelashes to add length and thickness. While the clothing was playful and the girls looked pretty - they didn't come off looking so soft and sweet; this show was most definitely serious Mod!

Which Hairstyle Do You Like Best on Sienna?

One thing is for certain: no matter what hair style she chooses, Sienna Miller looks best as a blond. Sure she's tried different colors in movies; in Casanova she had red hair and in Factory Girl she was a brunette for about a second, but I really like her hair light and bright.

So it's really just a question about what style you like best on her. I am torn between her first look where her hair (although unkempt) is flowy, long and loose, and the last look where she's got a cute as pie pixie cut. Which hair style do you like best on Sienna?
