Back in 1919, famed makeup artist Max Factor invented false eyelashes to enhance the dramatic performances of leading Hollywood starlets. Since then, there's been a bevy of lashes from which to choose, with Shu Uemura leading the industry in the most fashion-forward styles. (Even I've gotten in on the action.) These "lotsa lashes" looks are always quite memorable. Who can forget Twiggy's batting lashes or Madonna's notorious $10,000 mink-and-diamond pair? See more now.

Viktor & Rolf's Eyelash Plan Is a Shu-In

Huzzah! One of my favorite design duos, Viktor & Rolf, are doing another collaboration. After creating a sold-out collection for H&M a couple of years ago, now they're creating a line of false eyelashes this spring. It shouldn't surprise you that Shu Uemura is the partner for their Dutch lovin', especially because Shu is so praised for its fake-lash prowess.

The lashes, inspired by the pair's spring 2008 collection, include three styles: Wing, Wing 2 and Rhombus. They're retailing for the hefty price of 79 Euros-that's about $114 American-so I'll have to admire them from afar. No word on what they'll look like, but check out this gallery to see the clothes that inspired the lashes. Maybe they'll be violin-shaped.
