Last night, some of the Sugar girls and I went out to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a low-key affair, so I threw on a simple black sweater but decided to be a little more creative with my hair. I was experimenting with an updo with one of my new favorite products, Shu Uemura's Shape Paste, a fantastic sculpting paste that creates a workable hold.

I really love Korres watermelon products, but I hadn't heard much about the line's Lemon Lip Scrub ($19). The price is a little steep for a person who loses lip stuff all the time like I do, but reader laratf makes it sound so good that I might just have to try it anyway. She says:

Watch and chuckle, or scoff — or both — as this guy records his gal pal unintentionally blanketing herself in a cloud of baby powder. The white substance, which was placed deliberately in a blow-dryer by her "friend," was all set to go for a dramatic release once that button was switched into the "on" position. A cruel joke, or a harmless antic?

We've all had times when we've woken up after a particularly fun night, when the raccoon look is in full effect. Smudgy mascara happens, and unless you're intentionally applying face paint under your eyes to shield out the sun during your Saturday morning flag football games, I don't know many people who appreciate mascara gone south. But with a few simple tips, you can keep those product slips at bay.

This morning, I made a mistake. Instead of my trusty Klorane or Biolage hair refresher, I decided to give a dry spray from the drugstore, the aptly named Psssssst ($6), a try.
I sprayed it in, brushed it out, and my hair looked more than fine.
