In a recent appearance on her mother's show, The Talk, frequent hair-color-changer Kelly Osbourne had a few things to say about thirtysomethings and out-there hair color. "To me, I'm 27, I've got three years left, the way I look at it, to have fun with it," she explained, adding, "Because once you're 30, you look like a right idiot walking around with like rainbow, bright color hair." While it may be a big ouch to tricenarians, even 37-year-old cohost Sara Gilbert seemed to agree with Kelly.

And even though the majority of stars tend to have wild strands in their teens and 20s, some, such as Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis, and even Julia Roberts, have opted for colorful looks in their 30s and beyond. But since then, she's returned back to the shade that made her famous. If you love the warm-toned look, but don't want to spend a lot of money going to a salon to get it, try Revlon Colorsilk Permanent Hair Color in Medium Auburn ($4) or Clairol Perfect 10 Permanent Hair Color in Auburn Flash ($12).

Keep in mind that Emma, a natural blond, likely has to go through a more involved process at the salon to achieve such a rich tone, so only try this color at home if your hair is a shade or two darker or lighter than the box color. And to maintain your new vibrant hue, try washing your hair less often, use cold water when possible, and refresh as needed with a color gloss.

Just when you thought ombré might be on its way out, Drew Barrymore pulls us back in again. But would you expect anything less than the hair color chameleon herself? Not only has Drew dip-dyed her strands before, but she's also dabbled in wearing her hair red. Over the weekend at the LACMA Art + Film benefit in LA, she debuted a whole new look: a short bob complete with dark-on-top roots and much lighter ends. It's similar to the style she wore earlier this year, except it's more golden toned and several inches shorter. But if you had to pick your favorite hair color on Drew, which one wins out?

You've heard of foils, capping, and balayage (aka painting on hair color), but have you ever seen color stamped on the hair? That's just what hairstylist Brig Van Osten, winner of season three of Bravo's Shear Genius, did. Using various-sized round objects as stamps, Van Osten applied Pravana's intensely pigmented Vivids (in yellow, violet, green, and wild orchid) onto a model's ultrablond strands. The result was a bold burst of color, with circular shapes intertwining to create a whimsical effect. It's not the kind of technique that's easy to achieve at home, so you'll definitely want to head to the salon if you're lusting after this look.
