Ah, The Smell of Hillary

Would you want to smell like Hillary Clinton? How about like Barack Obama or John McCain? April Cline hopes you do. The West Virginian woman has created a line of fragrance called Presidential Perfume just in time for the down-and-dirty politickin' season.

The $25 eaux de parfum and body cremes come in three varieties, each inspired by - but not endorsed by - a different candidate:

Hillary: a "delicate floral" with notes of jasmine, violet, rose and musk.
Barack: an energetic scent with notes of bergamot and musk.
John: McCain's fragrance incorporates notes of bergamot, water lily, lavender, cool greens, and "frosty musk."

Although the candidates may have different platforms, it seems they all inspire musky smells. (There's an Eliot Spitzer joke to be made, but I won't go there.) So far, the best-selling scent is Hillary, but Barack is a very close second. And as for John? Cline says the sales are "few and far between."

Eyebrow Guru Eliza Petrescu Takes on McCain and Obama

If you missed this weekend's broadcast of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!, you missed an odd fusion of beauty and politics. Eyebrow guru Eliza Petrescu, who works on famous arches like those of Madonna and Kim Cattrall, shared her opinion on some political eyebrows. Who knew eyebrows were even being looked at in this election season?

The veepstakes matters a lot, and one potential Obama running mate is Virginia governor Tim Kaine. Unfortunately, his eyebrows are a hot mess. "His eyebrows are definitely too feminine," Eliza explained. "His arch is too high, so I would brush and trim, then I would remove the excess hair between the eyebrows. He doesn't have much, but his eyebrows are too manicured; whoever did it made him look almost like a woman."

Harsh words, and Eliza has even more to say about the presidential candidates' eyebrows. To find out whose brows she prefers, read more.

"To be honest with you, Mr. Obama has perfect eyebrows," Eliza explained, adding that her expertise is non-partisan. "Mr. McCain needs big help. He needs to color his eyebrows; you cannot have half-white and half-brown eyebrows."

This is all for fun, of course; it's not as though anybody will vote based on a candidate's eyebrow shape. (Let's hope not, anyway.)

I'm in Love With This Shady Lady

Greetings from New York, my friends. (Does that make me sound like John McCain?) While packing for the trip yesterday morning, I decided to pare down to only the essentials. Keeping two weeks of travel down to one carry-on suitcase made Fab's jaw drop, but here's my secret: Wear black dresses with different accessories, bring flat sandals that take up very little room, and think small when it comes to beauty.

Obviously, it makes sense to decant certain lotions and creams into travel-size containers - you already know that. But here's my makeup secret weapon: The Balm Shady Lady ($38). Instead of packing a bunch of individual shadows, I have everything I could need in this nine-shade eye shadow palette. The shadows have great pigmentation, a gorgeous but not bling-y level of shimmer, and colors for both night and day. (Unlike some palettes, this one doesn't have any "meh" colors that I'll never use.) And since some of the shadows double as liners, I didn't need to pack separate eyeliner. Easy!

As it turns out, guess who was on the same flight as me and Fab? Marissa Shipman, founder of The Balm, and her adorably chubby-cheeked baby, Lucas. If that's not a sign that I packed well, I don't know what is.
