Katy Perry isn't the only celebrity hopping on the sparkly, encrusted nail bandwagon. Beyonce had similarly wild nails with heart-shaped jewels on them last night at the MTV Europe Awards, and Kristen Bell was sporting iridescent foiled nails recently, too. Nominated tonight for Best Female Video, Katy Perry looks hot (not cold) on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards. Huge false eyelashes frame her big Bambi eyes, which set the stage for this vibrant and playful look. Speaking of her eyes - they seem to sparkle thanks to the silver shimmer surrounding them. They're in pretty contrast to her cheeks which are rosy, but downplayed. As such, her vibrantly pink lips seem to really pop. The hair, too, is just as exuberant (although I do wish I could wipe that unruly strand away). Overall, I think it's a good look for Katy. What do you think? Hot or cold?

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Katy Perry

With this sleek blunt hairstyle, Katy Perry declared to Teen Vogue that she "feels like Cleopatra" tonight. Is it me, or do you also see somewhat of a futuristic Betty Rubble in the mix, especially with the royal blue dress, metallic accents, and black locks?

This look, which is a lot bolder and richer than her opaque pink style from this year's Grammys, relies on some shimmery gold shadow in the inner v's, along with a bronze-toned shade on the contour to create a smoky look. Is this a yabba dabba doo - or a don't?

2009 Grammy Awards: Katy Perry

Katy Perry arrived at the Grammys with a soft look and a solid nomination for best female pop vocal performance. With chin-length hair gently waved and candy-colored pink lips (coincidentally matching her strapless dress), her stare is intensified by smoky eyes and false lashes.

Considering that this look is similar to her Critics' Choice Awards look, dare I say she looks less dramatic than we've seen in the past? Has she nailed a winning look here or is it too little, too late for such a retro style?

Last year, Katy Perry shot out of nowhere to become one of the biggest pop stars of the year - partly because of her quirky retro style. For the Critics' Choice Awards, she took it way back to the '50s, wearing fat curls in her hair and plush fake lashes on her lids. It's a little Dita Von Teese, but somehow, Katy makes it her own. I rather like her unusual style, since it could be overly wholesome, but she adds a little edge to it. Putting aside the fact that she's wearing heavy foundation for the cameras, do you like this hair and makeup look on her?
