Opening Ceremony's Carol Lim and Humberto Leon Named New Creative Directors of Kenzo

Carol Lim and Humberto Leon of shopping cult favorite, Opening Ceremony, have been named the new creative directors of Kenzo. The duo, who will still maintain their OC stores, will replace Antonio Marras, who has been designing for Kenzo since 2004. “It’s great to bring this young, contemporary generation into Kenzo,” said Pierre-Yves Roussel, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH’s fashion division. “They’re really embracing what was the origin of Kenzo - that jungle spirit.” Carol and Humberto's first designs for Kenzo will debut in October for Spring 2012. We can't wait to see what the two self-proclaimed "fashion nerds" are going to dish up for the fashion house - are you excited?

During Paris Fashion Week, the American beauty made her rounds to runway shows showing off her unique flavor. For the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac show, she mixed black and white prints, giving off the ultimate eclectic vibe. At Christian Dior, she opted for a girly, moody print dress. However, it was John Galliano who brought out her fiery side with a flaming red coat and super fresh heels. She then changed into a black fringed Chanel frock for Karl. A UFO Lands in the World of Fragrance

. . . that's Unidentified Fragrance Objects, in case you were wondering. Known for its distinctive, modern bottles and contemporary take on fragrances, Kenzo recently commissioned designer Ron Arad to fabricate the bottle concept for its limited-edition Unidentified Fragrance Object Eau de Parfum ($188).

This is no ordinary fragrance. At its heart lies a marble (!) accord with four natural notes: orange blossom and Bulgarian rose for feminine touches, frankincense to intensify the marble, and vanilla to lend a sensual tone.

A metal alloy called Zamac makes up its outer shell, and an internal spray mechanism lies within. Only 1,000 units are available for purchase, and from now until Oct. 19, the bottle will be on display at the Museum of Modern Art as part of a retrospective of Arad's works. Will you get carried away?

Coming Soon: Kenzo Amour Indian Holi

Even if you aren't a huge fan of past Kenzo fragrances, you have to hand it to them for always coming up with unique bottles and interesting scents. This February, a limited-edition fragrance called Kenzo Amour Indian Holi to coincide with this Spring's Holi, the Indian festival of colors.

The base of the fragrance is Amour, but this version has a few modifications. For example, there is less vanilla and more notes of peony, rose, frangipani, thanaka wood, and incense.

The eau de parfum will be available in a 50ml sized bottle. I haven't had the chance to smell it, but I really like the inspiration. This is something I'll definitely be checking out.
