You all know how much I love a good Chanel lip gloss, but I hadn't tried Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer ($32), so I was excited to see that reader gooz1231 had. Her review, though, makes me want to head down to the store and try one right now. She says:
"This lip product from Chanel (think a hybrid between a lipstick and gloss) is absolutely amazing.

I'm loving Christina Ricci's makeup look from the recent Spike Scream Awards in LA, and lucky for us, we've got the scoop on the perfectly rosy lip gloss shade she wore as a stain while presenting the Breakout Male Performance award to Twilight's Taylor Lautner. It's from Lancôme's new lollipop-inspired La Collection Lollipop ($35 per kit). Each limited-edition gift set comes with a Color Fever Gloss — Christina wore Ma Cherie Cherry — and a Le Vernis nail polish.

2 Love My Lips, a British beauty brand, has just come out with a line of lip glosses ($16 each) with an unusual twist: its packaging includes a card that detects GHB and ketamine, so women can test their drinks for date rape drugs. The idea is to help women feel safer in social situations where someone could spike the drink.
I'm all for anything that helps women feel safer and in control of a situation, but the juxtaposition of sexy lip gloss and rape feels a bit .

Dark lipstick can be tough to wear, but it just keeps coming back on the runways and in magazines, so I've decided to tackle it once and for all. In my recent interview with makeup artist Robin Black, she gave me some great advice about making deep lipstick colors wearable, and her tip inspired me to look for more examples of this trend. Click through and see just how easy it can be.

La Prairie has long been known for its luxurious skincare line, with stars like Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes counted amongst its large celebrity fan base. The brand has definitely established a cult following since its inception in 1978, but did you know that La Prairie has a line of makeup as well?
Raychel Wade, the brand's color ambassador and founder of cosmetic consulting firm Cheek to Chic, has offered up some very helpful ideas for all of us.

Remember that mood lipstick from the '80s that changed color depending on your body chemistry? Over the past few months I've noticed that a similar-sounding technology is popping up in a lot of high-end lip glosses, all of which purport to turn the "right" shade for your skin tone. I've recently seen a bunch of readers talking about their experiences with them over on the Product Reviews pages, from Smashbox O-Gloss ($22) to Dior Addict Lip Glow ($28).

When I was little, I was absolutely obsessed with those cheapy clear plastic rings full of glittery, gooey lip gloss in what I now realize were totally gross artificial flavors. As my ability to judge product quality has improved, though, my nostalgia for those little rings hasn't left me. Feeling sentimental the other day, I Googled "lip gloss rings," only to find that there are, in fact, a whole bunch of high-end, very pretty versions that are totally appropriate for grown-up ladies.

Whether you're a lipstick wearer, a lip balm fan, or a gloss fiend, there's a high likelihood you're wearing something on your pucker right now. Some people — the ones with amounts of self-control I don't quite understand — austerely limit themselves to reapplying a couple times a day. Other people are so compulsive about reapplying that it's almost a nervous tic.

Hey soap-on-a-rope fans, get excited, because I've got a product that has "you" written all over it. Recent MBA grad Angie Parlionas is launching a line of clip-on lip glosses on a retractable string. They're designed for women who absolutely have to have their gloss on hand at all times, and absent-minded people who constantly lose their gloss in their purses, cars, or on the bus.
