Even though geeksugar is all about natural beauty, she doesn't avoid makeup completely. She recently showed me her latest obsession, and so without further ado, here's her take on it:

You don't need to endure painful injections to achieve a nice, full lip. You don't necessarily need a lip plumping product, either. Makeup artists rely on tried and true tips to help their clients pump up the volume, and I've got a few of them to share.

Applier beware. Plump lips are one of those mysterious subconscious biological signs of youthfulness and fertility.

(Editor's note: I cannot take responsibility for any additional attention (or children) that may follow as a result of these tips below.)

Beginner

Avoid dark lipsticks or glosses. They can make your lips look smaller. Instead, choose a lighter shade to give the illusion of fullness. Also, pick lipsticks with shinier finishes. Shiny reflects light, making lips look even bigger.
Brush lips with a baby toothbrush and some lip balm, like the classic ChapStick ($1.90). It's a gentle way to exfoliate and it promotes circulation in the lips, causing a temporary plump.
Sweep a tiny dab of light colored gloss only in the middle of your lips, both top and bottom. Try Benefit Her Glossiness in Didn't Hear It From Me ($18). You can also use a lighter glittery gloss such as Wet N Wild MegaBrilliance Lip Gloss in Shimmy Shimmer ($2) or a whitish shimmery powder like Benefit Lust Duster in Snow Bunny ($18) to achieve the same effect.

Intermediate

Apply a luminizer, white pencil, or a line of concealer a shade or two lighter than your skin tone to your cupid's bow only (the "m" shape right above your upper lip). Blend lightly. Try Wet N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in White ($1.50).
Use just the slightest amount of soft brown eyeliner (yeah - weird, I know) right underneath your lower lip line. Just about 1/8th of an inch should do. This creates the illusion that your full lips are actually creating a "shadow." I like CoverGirl Perfect Blend Eye Pencil in Smoky Taupe ($2.70).

Advanced

Apply concealer to lip area to create a blank palette. Using a lip liner in a shade similar to your own lips (or 1-2 shades darker), line your entire lips, from just slightly outside your natural line, moving inward. Smudge any rough edges (no clowny looks, here) and apply lipstick or gloss or both.

How To: Get Hayden Panettiere's Premiere Look

How adorable is Hayden Panettiere at the premiere of It's A Mall World? I love how she's looking more grown-up these days, but in a fun, age-appropriate way. This youthful, fresh look works because it doesn't take itself too seriously-and it's a great look for summer, too.

Skin: Hayden is wearing full foundation for the photos, but for everyday wear, go with a lighter, more sheer foundation. Use a powder brush to apply a powder bronzer on the apples of cheeks and temples. Follow by blending a warm, sunkissed rose blush on the apples of cheeks (sweep upward along the cheekbone). A good two-in-one option is Nars Blush/Bronzer duo in Orgasm/ Laguna.

Lips: Line lips with a light rose lip pencil, like Cover Girl lip pencil in, uh, Rose. Fill in lips with a slightly warm pink lipstick, such as shu uemura Lolishine in shade 334. Top off with a coat of clear lip gloss, or if you want the pink to really pop, a pink gloss like MAC Lipglass in Lust.

Eyes: Using an eye shadow brush, brush a frosty moss eye shadow (like MAC shadow in Steamy) on the center of the lid. Follow by blending in a slightly darker green, such as Make Up For Ever in Diamond Green, and sweeping it toward the outer lid. Follow by dusting a shimmery goldish green on the inner corners of eyes. I like Milani loose eye shadow powder in Mint Sugar, which comes with a brush. Then, dot a thin line of liquid eyeliner (such as Revlon Bedroom Eyes liquid eyeliner in Fishnet Jet) into the lower lash line-not underneath. Do the same for upper lids, and follow with another line on top of the lash line (it should be thicker toward the outer corner). Follow with a coat of lengthening mascara. Hayden is wearing false lashes here, but I think you can use Diorshow in Black Out and get great results.

Backstage Beauty: Temperley

We've been seeing a lot of neutral, pretty makeup during fashion week, but bold color dominated the Temperley runway. Charlotte Tilbury, the MAC makeup artist who worked on the models, said that her idea was "1930s glamour meets new wave." Sure, this makeup isn't something you'd wear every day, but it's fun to see on Agyness here.

MAC's publicity department has given out the scoop on which products were used, so if you're feeling daring, here's how to get the Temperley look:

Face: Face and Body Foundation was applied to even out skin discolorations and Blot Powder was dusted where necessary. M∙A∙C Gloss was applied on the nose, cheekbones and temple for an all-over, sexy look.

Eyes: For a futuristic, wet-looking glow, M∙A∙C Gloss was applied all over lids. Lashes were curled and coated with Plush Lash Mascara in Black.

Lips: M∙A∙C Pro Orange Lip Mix was blended with M∙A∙C Pro Creme Color Base in Flaming Fuschia, defined with Lip Pencil in Redd and topped with Morange Lipstick for an extra punch of color.
