Bronzer can create the perfect sun-kissed look. But it can also look muddy or too obvious if the formulation doesn't work with your skin tone. Reader Treesah recently reviewed Make Up For Ever Mat Bronze ($30), giving it four out of five stars.

So I've kinda fallen in love with this Make Up For Ever Microfinish Powder ($30). I ran across it yesterday at Sephora and was skeptical of the High Definition name. "Harrumph," I harrumphed.

Yesterday, my best friend and I were headed out for the night. Sick of this bronzer-mascara combo we've both been rocking all summer, I opened Make Up Your Mind by Francois Nars to a random page and followed the directions (with whatever similar products I had). This classic tome is broken into eight sections that begin with general tips and end with step-by-step instructions for each look.

I've always been a bit suspicious of loose powder, especially the kind that is supposed to be used to "set" makeup. On me, it often looks caked-on and masklike. Looks like I'm not the only one.

I think that Make Up For Ever is an underdog brand. Though you don't hear about it very often, many makeup artists use this very high-quality line for runways and photo shoots, and for many years, it was the exclusive makeup used for all of the Cirque Du Soleil shows. Its foundations, in particular, are incredible, and the newest addition to the line, Make Up For Ever Face and Body Liquid Makeup is renowned in the biz because of its heavy coverage and incredibly light feel.

Laura Mercier is known for her lovely products, and her All Over Eye Color Brush ($30) is apparently no exception. Reader ElisabethR says:
"I have been fighting with eye shadow brushes for months. Every single one I bought was too small, too stiff, and didn't distribute color evenly on my lids.

Emma Stone sure knows how to glam it up, doesn't she? At last night's GQ Men of the Year event in LA, the actress wowed in this subtle lavender shadow. Encircling the eyes with makeup can look raccoon-like, but Emma manages to pull it off, thanks to a light touch and a soft-toned shade.
