It was the final day of Fashion Week, and while I'm sad to see it go, I'm excited to discover how many of these hair and makeup looks will make the transition into the mainstream. These final two days were absolutely lovely, with more old-guard designers like Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, and Oscar De La Renta injecting an elegance that nicely hedged the experimental looks from younger designers. Beauty Byte: Stila To Release Marchesa Palette

If you liked Marchesa's fall 2008 makeup, you'll love this news: WWD reports that Stila and the designers are teaming up to create a cosmetics collection this fall. The colors will reflect the runway look, with three eye shadow and eyeliner palettes ($40 each). Faux leather rosettes close the palettes, which will come in handy if the rosette trend is still going strong. In addition to the limited-edition palettes, three lipstick shades will be added to the permanent collection.

I'm excited about the colors, since everything on the runway was so beautiful and fresh. And considering the fact that Stila's eye shadows are $18 each, it's a decent value - just as long as the shadows themselves aren't as tiny as its latest palette pans. We already know that Stila just raised its prices, but I hope they're not making the shadow pans small again.

Backstage Beauty: Marchesa

Ever since seeing Dita Von Teese in a feathered Marchesa dress, I've been amazed by the intricate beauty of the designers' creations. There's an elegant extravagance to their creations, balancing luxury and refinement. At last week's show, the hair and makeup teams created a simple and flawless look for the models, and because it's something that anybody can wear, I thought I'd share a few tips.

A team of stylists from Rita Hazan Salon wrapped the models' hair into simple ballerina bun. "It's very simple and easy," said stylist Juan Carlos. Nothing is too fussy-hair is just slightly teased a little bit to create a little flyaway and softness so the hair can flow as the girls walk. The bun is more or less a classic ballerina, but in an undone way."

Makeup artist Talia Shobrook used Stila on the models' faces. Ever since Stila's founder, Jeanine Lobell, sold the company, I haven't thought of Stila as a line so closely linked to fashion. But it was a lot of fun to see the new spring colors being used on such a high-style show. The skin was matte, the smoky eye was soft, and the lips and cheeks had a natural flush (thanks to Cherry Crush lip and cheek stain. One tip I wouldn't have thought of: Shobrook used brown mascara on lashes, then applied black Major Lash on just the tips. Check out the makeup chart:

Beauty Spring Peek: Bangs

Big bang baby! Bangs are back! Just look at these delicate bangs at the Spring 2007 Marchesa show. This was the first show for these fancy shmancy designers and I must say, their evening dresses were gorgeous...all 26 of them!

The concept for the show was "Paparazzi Ready." The girls looked glam in their super short or super long dresses, soft and sweet looking makeup and their hair swept back in an updated ballet bun with bangs!
