Whose New Fragrance Ad Do You Like Better- Mariah's or Scarlett's?

The rumors have been swirling for the past few weeks that Scarlett Johansson, the face of Dolce & Gabbana's new makeup line, would also be fronting the design house's new scent, Rose The One ($48 to $90). Today, People confirms with a first look at the new ad. On the other front, the ad for Mariah Carey's new fragrance, Mariah Carey Forever, has also just been released. Both endorsements feature the stars dressed in slinky, form-fitting gowns while striking seductive poses. Each ad also works in a monotone element, with warm, café au lait shades in Mariah's and soft, rosy tones in Scarlett's. If you had to choose your favorite of the duo, which one wins out?

Coming Soon: Mariah Carey Forever

When she's not in a row with Eminem, breaking records for the highest amount of number one singles, or acting in Precious, (the highly anticipated film due out this November), Mariah Carey is selling perfume.

After much success with her first fragrance, M by Mariah Carey in 2007, the songstress is set to launch her sophomore scent, Forever ($42 to $65), this September. The line will also include a parfum ($250!) and a body lotion ($28). Of the inspiration behind the name, Mariah told WWD."I am in a wonderful place right now, surrounded by all the things I love, and Forever captures this moment in time."

Described as an opulent floral, the juice will have top notes of neroli, dewy green apple, and lotus blossom, along with middle notes of gardenia and tuberose. The drydown will consist of exotic woods and white musk. As for the bottle, its design is modeled after Mariah's appreciation for art deco stylings. Is it me, or are you reminded of Superman's fortress of ice crystals? Will you give Forever a shot, or are you thinking, forget about it?

2009 Independent Spirit Awards: Mariah Carey

It's a sunny day in Santa Monica, I'll give her that, but those oversized sunglasses make it pretty hard to evaluate Mariah Carey's makeup. I can see her well-outlined eyes, but I'm not sure what kind of shadow or mascara she's also working up there while working the red carpet. Her cheeks are lightly colored and her lipstick's a glossy pink - no glitter in sight.

For her hair, Mariah opts for a middle part with loose waves that don't look overly styled. Do you like her look or do you simply wish we could see more?

Love It Or Hate It? Mariah Carey's NYE Look

Mariah Carey hosted a New Year's party in Las Vegas, and in a skintight lwd, she was certainly showing off her, uh, figure. Surprisingly, though, I'm most drawn to her glowing face. Looks like she used some bronzer (Physician's Formula is the reader favorite of 2007) and a healthy dose of blush-a rosy color like Nars The Multiple in Maui. As usual, her hair is a little wild, a little sexy-but if it ain't broke, why fix it, right?

Okay, I give up. Is today officially Celebrity Fragrance Commercial Launch Day or something? Did I miss the memo? First it was David Lynch's ad for Gucci, then Brit and Paris got bird-brained for theirs. Now Mariah Carey is singing about her scent, M. It's hard to believe that a 37-year-old woman is this much into clouds, nakedness and butterflies in a non-taxonomic way.

This fall, Mariah Carey and Gwen Stefani will be going head-to-head on the charts-the fragrance charts, that is. As we reported last week, Gwen's launching L by Gwen Stefani and now Mariah's preparing to debut M by Mariah Carey. (What's with the one-consonant names, ladies?)

Women's Wear Daily reports that M will be a "floriental":

It has top notes of marshmallow and sea breeze accord, a heart of Living Tahitian Tiare and gardenia and a drydown of sheer amber, patchouli and Moroccan incense.

The eau de parfum will come in three sizes ($38–$58), while a .5 oz parfum bottle ($175) and a body lotion ($28) offer other ways to get Carey-ed away. To get a look at the bottle, just read more
