Martha Stewart's a Vampire. And a Goddess.

I have no idea how Martha Stewart has time to do everything that she does, but it wouldn't surprise me if there's magic involved. Maybe she's giving us a hint with her new covers-yep, plural-of her Halloween holiday magazine. On one side of the magazine, Martha shows off her good side; on the other, she plays a baddie.

Helpfully, the magazine has shared a step-by-step guide to her hair and makeup. I like her "glampire" look more than her golden goddess-with the dramatic makeup and black hair, she's got this cool Siouxsie Sioux thing going on with the darker look. Still, both would be fun for Halloween, and it's never too early to get some ideas...

Each Month, a New Soapy Scent Pops Up

What do you get when you take a former drag queen and a doctor to a 200-year-old farm? Beekman 1802, a concept that aims to get people connecting with old-timey pleasures such as cooking, gardening, and crafting. Writer Josh Kilmer-Purcell and physician Brent Ridge (a former VP at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia) live on a farm estate in upstate New York, where - among other things - they have a line of handmade soaps ($12.50/set of two) made with milk from the farm's freely grazing goats. The soapmaking process avoids using harsh chemicals, and each bar is scented with essential oils. Nice. What I love about this concept, though, is that there's a different scent for each month. Each bar incorporates scents found on the Beekman 1802 estate - think fresh grass for March, apples and firewood for October. Such a cute idea for gift-giving, and an affordable luxury for those of us who miss a whiff of country air now and then.

Beauty Mark It: Blemish Blasters

Remember that episode of Sex and the City when Carrie gets an enormous pimple on the train ride to San Francisco? Ugh, I felt for her. Since adult acne is definitely not high on my list of Martha Stewart-style "good things," I rely on antiblemish products and oil-free creams to help keep the bumps at bay.

So, for this week's Beauty Mark It challenge I'm thinking blemish control. Which products do you love and which ones do you hate when it comes to reducing pimples and oil production on the skin? Beauty Byte: Charlotte Moss Has a Flair For Fragrance

Interior design veteran and legendary New York City hostess Charlotte Moss hasn't even let the ink dry from the launch of her book, A Flair for Living. But she's already creating buzz about her new and first fragrance called Left Bank. The inspiration for the Egyptian cypress, pink peppercorn blossom, incense, crushed pepper tree leaves and lemongrass scent came from her love of shopping in the Left Bank of Paris.

In fact, in an interview with the Columbus Dispatch she said,

"I love the hunt. I love walking down the Left Bank after dinner, looking in windows at night. I can't wait to get back the next day because that chandelier might be gone if I wait. I enjoy the whole process."

Left Bank is due out in stores this August along with scented travel candles and a perfume lid candle ($55 – $105). Charlotte has always reminded me a little bit of a luxe Martha Stewart - and just look how well her enterprise has done.
