Sep 21 2009 - 1:30pm On the red carpet last night, tons of celebrities played down their makeup, especially lips. As usual, there were lots of soft pinks and shimmers, but the dominant trend was nude, matte lips. Whether part of an understated look designed to let a dress or jewelry shine through, like Ginnifer Goodwin and Kristin Chenoweth, or as a soft foil to dramatic eyes, like Kim Kardashian and Mila Kunis, the matte lip is a sexy, subtle way to keep a dramatic look from being overdone.

I really don't like this look, it makes you look dead. A shimmery nude would be fine. I've never been a fan of matte lips anyway.

I like the look, but don't love it. I like pinkier nudes, so the lip isn't too pale and yeah, corpse looking.
4kristen chenowith's veins are like bulging out of her forehead. how does that happen?

6Apparently, Kristen Chenowith had a really bad migraine at the Emmys, maybe those bulging veins are a result of that? Scary though, very freaky, she really looks like she should lay down(which they said she did later) or her head will explode a la "Scanners"!
7My lips are large so I'm usually trying to downplay them. I've been looking for a good matte nude lipstick.

10not everyone can pull off this nude matte lips. it totally gives such a washed out look. nevertheless mila looks the best
euww! they look like the walking dead. a nude pink would look better. only a few can pull this off...a very select few
