Nude lip glosses are the end all, be all of makeup because they're so versatile. They can be worn on a bare face, with a dark or metallic smoky eye or with a touch of blush and mascara. They've been one of the top beauty trends among celebrities and It girls for the past few years and it doesn't seem like this pale lip look is going anywhere.

Below, I've listed my all-time top five favorite nude glosses - and let me just say, these were not slim pickings. There are so many to choose from, but I based my decision on color versatility, texture and scent. What's your top pick for nude lip gloss?

Besame Cosmetics Enchanted Lip Glaze in Latte ($23) is a thick, creamy and sweet vanilla-scented gloss that leaves lips feeling moisturized and looking off-the-charts shiny.
Scott Barnes Lip Slick in Suggestive ($22) is an over-the-top creamy lipsticky-lipgloss. It's a favorite of Jennifer Lopez and Kate Hudson and is available in five nude shades to suit all skin tones.
Laura Mercier in Petal ($22) is a rich, opalescent, beigy-pink shade that lasts long and has been recently re-formulated with a hint of vanilla. The shine is brilliant and the neutral color makes it a makeup case staple.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Lip Gloss in Quartz ($16) has remained one of my favorite glosses for over a year because of its smooth, non-tacky texture and wearable color. It's by far the palest of the nudes listed, and looks beautiful over a neutral lipstick or worn alone.
Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in Beige Velvet ($24.50) is a shiny, light-reflecting nude-pink lip gloss that blends into the color of your lips. This is my go-to gloss for subtle daytime color.

Trend Alert: More Nude Lips at the VMAs

Looks like the nude lip trend is hotter than ever this year. Just a few weeks ago we saw lots of pale pouts at the Teen Choice Awards, and here they are again at this year's VMAs. Celebrity attendees such as Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Garner, Rosario Dawson, Nicole Scherzinger and Hayden Panetierre all wore a neutral, flesh colored lip. Here are a couple of great nude lip colors that make for great additions to your collection.

Scott Barnes Lipslick in Suggestive ($22) is a creamy and sexy-looking lip lacquer that falls somewhere marvelously in between a lip gloss and a lipstick.

When it comes to natural-looking lips, nude lip liners are a staple. They outline and define, as well as create depth and consistency. They can be worn with lipsticks and glosses or simply by themselves, filled in with a dab of Vaseline at the center of your lower lip. Here are the four classic must-have nude lip liners.

MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Spice is probably the most recommended lip liner of all time. It looks great on everybody, and it blends well with virtually any color of lipstick or gloss. It's no wonder the neutral pinky brown shade is a favorite among celebs. Buy it here for $12.50

Beauty Mark It! The Perfect Nude Lip

If you've been keeping an eye on Fashion Week, you may have noticed an undeniable trend: nude lips are in. The perfect nude lip is also a timeless, classic beauty look for all seasons, but not necessarily an easy one to perfect. That is why I present you with this week's Beauty Mark It challenge: find the best nude lip colors!

While matte lips are the season's big trend, I'm not opposed to something with a little more shine to it, either. I'm in love with MAC 3N, a perfect pinky-neutral, but alas, the limited-edition shade is sold out. So let me know what your tried-and-true favorites are, or something new that you love or are dying to try.

Beauty Mark It Results: The Perfect Nude Lip

In light of this season's makeup trends, I wanted to find out what you use when you need to get the perfect nude lip. It's not an easy look to achieve, since it can veer into the dreaded corpse-like territory. However, when done right, its can be very chic.

It looks like many of you are big fans of Nars lip colors, and both Mintie and bailaoragaditana are going wild for the new Belle Du Jour Matte Lip Pencil. I'm also excited to try Vincent Longo Lipstain Lipstick SPF 15 in Nude. I love that it has an SPF (lips need protection, too!), and Baby Girl says it was recommended to her by a makeup artist because of its warm, wearable color. I'll take the advice of a pro any day.

Trend Alert: Nude Lips at Idol Gives Back

Sunday night in Hollywood sure isn't anything as relaxed as spaghetti night in my house. Instead, stars and American Idol supporters arrived to the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles for the taping of the philanthropic Idol Gives Back show.

Most of the women were wearing a pale, nude-colored lip. This super-hot beauty trend has been prevalent at the Oscars, the VMAs, the Teen Choice Awards, and the MTV Awards. You've even beauty marked dozens of your favorite nude lip shades!

Trend Alert: Nude Lips at the Teen Choice Awards

Teenagers are constantly being told to go with a natural look, and now they've got proof that doing so is in style. At the 2007 Teen Choice Awards, starlet after starlet sported soft, barely-there lipstick. Monique Coleman of High School Musical did it, as did Fergie and Lauren Conrad.

If you want to hop on this trend but you're no longer a teenager, don't be shy! This is truly a look that flatters women of all ages. Look for a creamy matte lipstick in a shade close to your lip's natural color; if you want a hint of shine like LC's lips, try Kiehl's Tinted Lip Balm in hue 30G. The Lighter Than Ever Lip

Nude lips have been a hot beauty trend over the last two seasons, but from the looks of all the new 2007 Spring makeup collections, the latest and greatest nude lip is lighter than ever. The vast array of pale beige glosses seem like they would only flatter olive complexions, but with all of the amazing bronzers available, anyone can achieve a super sexy light lip! NARS Lip Gloss in Striptease, $23, is a light ivory/cream candlelight color that adds oodles of shine to a flawless face with a smoky or bold eye. This gloss can help to balance out any bold feature for that matter.

You can also add some luminizer to your cheeks and this neutral color will give you even more pop! Striptease can be worn alone or on top of any lipstick that you'd like to lighten and brighten.

ModelCo Lip Lights Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Pink Sea Shell, $25, is a glamorous and high shine gloss with an LED light that glows as you withdraw the applicator. It looks like Go Light on My Lips has some stiff competition! The gloss also has a side panel mirror for easy application and the battery claims to be long lasting.

Estee Lauder High Gloss in Quartz, $16, is a nude colored ultra shiny lip gloss with a hint of sparkle. There is nothing bland or flat about this beautiful and smooth shade. Quartz is actually being relaunched along with a couple other oldie but goodies.

While it won't be available online or at Estee Lauder counters until May, you'll be happy that you're in the know because once it's out, I'll bet you're going to have to fight the crowds to get your paws on one. Enjoy!
