What Do You Get from Runway Looks?

We're into full-blown Fashion Week season, with lots of looks from New York, London, and Paris. This model walked in the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris, and I was struck by her babydoll makeup and wildly wavy hair. It's clearly done to create a high-fashion effect, and it gives me ideas for creating a more toned-down version of the look. I'm curious: What do you get out of runway looks?

Love It or Hate It? Teen Vogue's Summer Runway Look

Teen Vogue held a beachside runway show yesterday, and the outfits had this hippie-meets-Easy Rider early '70s look to it. Maybe that explains this out-there eye makeup. Whatcha think?

Whose Project Runway Look Do You Like Best?

If you're like me, you've been waiting for months to finally see who won Project Runway. Congratulations to Christian, who will unleash his fierceness upon all the world. I'll leave the fashion dish to Fab, but of course I want to dish about the hair and makeup looks.

I think the looks are all very pretty, if a bit on the cautious side. Christian's look, at left, is simple but chic. Props to Rami to working the trendy side-French braid - I saw it up close at Fashion Week and it was jaw-droppingly cool. And Jillian's look, at right, is so romantic. Whose look is your favorite?

Meet the Project Runway Models

Unless you've been living under a rock - one where basic cable is not a given - you probably know that tonight is the season premiere of Project Runway. The designers are sure to come up with some interesting outfits (and Fab has a sneak peek of some of them). Of course, just as the designers are vying for a chance to make it big, so are the models. Bravo has the bios online, and I've created a gallery for you to check everyone out. Marcia and Katie are my favorites from what I see; what about yours?

How To Get Hot Runway Hair

There's no question we're admiring the clothes at New York Fashion Week, but what we're really coveting is that full, flowy hair atop the gorgeous, leggy models. Big, soft curls are everywhere right now, and the look is reminiscent of old Hollywood glam. As Jessica Simpson's stylist Ken Paves has said, "Soft curls have a casual, lived-in sensuality, and they're flattering to all hair types." Here's how to get perfect runway-ready hair at home.

Step 1: Prime Your Hair. Towel-dry your hair and prep it with a volumizing tonic on the roots before you blow it dry. I like TRESemme's Instant Heat Tamer Styling Spray, which you can buy here for $3.79. These products, which come in mousse, spray, and gel forms, are meant to lift your hair at the roots. Use a large, round brush to blow dry.

Step 2: Roll With It. You'll need 12 medium-to-large velcro rollers and 12 fasteners. Separate your hair into four sections: the crown (about two inches wide on the top of your head), the right side, the left side, and the back. Place three rollers in each of the sections, holding your hair taught, then starting from the ends and rolling hair under toward your scalp. Fasten the rollers with a small clip.

Step 3: Let It Loose. Leave your hair in the rollers for about 15 to 20 minutes-the perfect amount of time to apply your make-up. Then, carefully unwind each of the rollers one by one. Next, flip your head upside down and and gently finger-brush your hair, starting from the scalp downward, to loosen up the curls. They should look like soft waves. Lastly, flip your head up and shake it out. Brush your hair from roots to ends, and lightly spray your hair with a misty hair spray to ensure longevity.
Step 4: Curl It, Girl. As a finishing touch, enhance the curls by touching them up for a few seconds each with a curling iron. Start at the roots and gently wrap hair around the iron. Use a touch of flexible-hold hair spray at the very end.

Does "Supermodel" Mean Anything Anymore?

We all know the supermodels by their first names: Naomi. Linda. Christy. Heidi. Gisele. Whitney.

Wait, Whitney? Yep, Whitney Thompson - as in the winner of America's Next Top Model. She's launching her own line of handmade jewelry and candles, calling it Supermodel. "I've tried to make my collection real," she told First Coast News. "It's stuff that I love and I would wear and I'm a supermodel so I was thinking, 'Hey! Supermodel.'"

While I love Top Model and hope that Whitney's endeavor goes well, none of the show's winners are exactly household names in the way that Cindy Crawford is. Then again, neither are the most popular runway models - just try asking a random dude who Jessica Stam or Raquel Zimmerman are. So maybe Claudia Schiffer is right when she says that the age of the supermodel is long over. If it is, do you think it matters?

The runway can be scary for many reasons. For instance, models have been known to fall over the place thanks to some eight-inch spiky heels, and there are plenty of getups that leave you wondering how the wearer can even see. Take a Peek at the Models of ProjRun's New Sister Show

If you're a Project Runway fan, you might just want to tune into Lifetime Television's upcoming sister show, Models of the Runway. The program, which shows the behind-the-scenes antics of the actual models from Project Runway, makes its debut on Lifetime on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 11 p.m.

Runway Makeup Shades You Can Wear Now

So many of the shades on the runway are hard or impossible to track down - the perfect blue nail polish from Vena Cava, the gorgeous turquoise eyeliner at Tibi, etc. Luckily, though, some designers have realized just how much demand there is for their colors, and are coming out with runway makeup collections. A lot of stuff is still unavailable, but I've put together some of the prettiest samples from the collections that are coming out now.
