Recreate LC's Double Braids With Tips From Her Stylist!

Just when we thought there couldn't possibly be any more ways to wear braids, who better than trend-setting Lauren Conrad to bring us back in? At the Hollywood Style Awards last night in LA, the former reality show star styled her signature waist-length extensions in not just one side-braid, but two intersecting plaits. Celebrity stylist Byron Williams of the Byron and Tracey Salon created the look for Lauren, using her multihued frock as inspiration.

"We wanted to get it as narrow as possible because we didn’t want to overwhelm the dress," Williams said. "It was side-parted, and we French braided both sides. It’s kind of half-up, half-down." When I think of mustard-colored clothing paired with a brick-red lip, I can't help but think to the days of the early 1990s, when shows like The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Saved by the Bell ruled the airwaves. But at yesterday's Power of Women luncheon in LA, Anne Hathaway proved that the dated color combo doesn't have to be so dated after all. By keeping the brown undertones associated with a traditional brick-red lipstick by the wayside, and going for a shade with both light red and golden undertones instead, this version of brick red is fresh and modern. Lisa Turtle would approve. To get the look, use more than one lip product to create your own custom-made blend. At Milan Fashion Week, Hilary Swank looked stunning with waved hair that avoided being too prim and proper. What I like most about her loose, softly rolled curls is that they're not perfectly pouffed, but they still have that sensuous factor without being too in-your-face sexpot.
