Product Review: Stella McCartney Soft Deodorant

Bear with me a moment while we talk about something a little unusual. A couple of years ago, I decided to make the switch from antiperspirant to deodorant. At the time, I was suffering from some pretty gross breakouts, and I had a crazy theory that antiperspirant, by blocking my sweat glands, was sending toxins to my face and turning them into pimples. (Like I said, it was a crazy theory.)

Anyway, when I went shopping for aluminum-free deodorants, I wasn't too excited by the, er, natural selection. Tom's of Maine left a slimy trail in my underarms, and the "crystal" deodorant irritated my skin. Then I tried Stella McCartney's deodorant (well, not hers-but you know what I mean). read more I love Stella eau de parfum because it's soft but complex, and the deodorant is just as pleasing. It's a roll-on, and the formula itself is a milky, watery liquid that takes about 30 seconds to dry. By design, a deodorant doesn't stop you from sweating, but after about a week I realized that I just don't sweat that much in the first place. Having softly scented underarms that match the fragrance on my wrists made me feel luxurious-or at least as luxurious as one can feel when we're talking about perspiration. Stella Soft Deodorant is $19, and I've found it only at Nordstrom. As a sweat-blocker goes, it's pricey, but the cost is completely justified if you love the scent (which I do) and you treat it as part of your "fragrance wardrobe." Have you tried it? Gwyneth Paltrow hung out backstage at this evening's Grammy Awards in LA. She's on the long list of stars who will present an honor during the ceremony, and she'll take the stage in her cutout Stella McCartney gown. Gwyneth hit the Grammys with her husband Chris Martin. His band, Coldplay, starred in one of the evening's most anticipated performances when they teamed up with Rihanna. It's a big night for Chris and his group, since they were nominated in three categories. Gwyneth has a long history with the Grammys. Last year, Gwyneth sang "Forget You" with CeeLo Green. She presented at the 2009 show, and was actually nominated that year for an audio book she recorded based on the Bill Martin, Jr. children's books.

Edun Fall 2012

Bono and wife Ali Hewson's elevated eco-conscious clothing brand showed off a darker mood this season, but not to worry, the presence of Edun's signature exotic prints abounded in pops of silky fuchsia and electric blue combos. Gwyneth and Cameron Have a London Girls' Night With Stella and Reese!

Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow took Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon to The Arts Club in London last night. The ladies met up for a European reunion while Reese was in the UK promoting This Means War. Cameron has been across the pond for the last week, having been in Paris to attend a variety of the haute couture shows. Gwyneth even made a quick jaunt to France, where she met up with friends and ate a few good meals.

Cameron and Gwyneth launched The Arts Club together back in October during one of Cameron's recent visits there. Gwyneth and Cameron have grown particularly close over the last year, hanging out in London, LA, and NYC. Gwyneth has also recently hit the town with her son, Moses. She tweeted about taking Moses to see the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy and shared a photo of him checking out the landscapes.
