Proggy Rock: Award-Winning Animal-Friendly Beauty

In yesterday's review of an Olay product, most of the comments condemned the company for testing on animals. So today, I thought I'd highlight some bunny- and kitty-friendly beauty products that recently won PETA's Proggy Awards.

The Proggy Awards are given to various animal-friendly companies, people, and products. Check out the winners:

Best Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Line: Urban Decay
This one wasn't a surprise, since Urban Decay has always been strongly against animal testing. It also has vegan products clearly labeled, so it's easy to avoid animal products altogether if you like.

Best Cruelty-Free Personal Care Product Line: White Rain
Whoa. Who saw this one coming? As it turns out, White Rain is another vegan line that doesn't test on animals-proof that you don't need a lot of cash to be a conscientious shopper.

Best Cruelty-Free Personal Care Product: Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Shampoo
I hadn't heard of this shampoo, but it sounds pretty cool. As PETA says, they're not only "vegan and cruelty-free, they are also free of parabens, PVP, and other mysterious petrochemicals." Good times.

To see who scored points in food, entertainment, and religion (yep, religion!), check out the the complete list. Yay for PETA for giving credit where credit's due. Now if they could just put the kibosh on the whole objectification-of-women thing, we'd be best pals.

We can't believe how much has gone on over the last seven days! The Obamas celebrated Easter with a big blowout for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, while former pageant star Eden Wood was busy promoting her new series Eden's World. Across the pond, brave girls didn't let the rain spoil their fashionable fun at the Grand National race, and Down Under, lovely ladies from the Lingerie Football League promoted their teams. LFW Dispatch: Highlights From the London Runways

Our FabSugar UK editor Jamie hit up the top shows at London Fashion Week, getting backstage access and sending us her firsthand account from the runways. Here is a roundup of her favorite highlights from the shows:

Antonio Berardi: The gorgeous shoes were by Manolo Blahnik, but the models kept slipping on the marble floor! I sat next to the fashion editor for Harvey Nichols, and we couldn't stop staring in fear at the heels! Read all about my experience at the show.

Erdem: I almost bumped into Anna Wintour because I was bent over tying my shoe - ha! The show was beautiful, but listen to the description I got: "Eccentric collectors of the '50s and '60s provide the inspiration for Erdem's latest collection - the bold and incomparable style of fearless dressers such as arts patron Betty Freeman and Marcia Weisman who, along with her husband Fred, was captured by David Hockney in California Collectors." It was all about conservative pieces with a kinky twist.

Burberry: Poppy Delevigne was in the front row smiling proudly and taking pictures of her little sister Cara, who not only walked the runway but also stars in the current Burberry campaign. Talk about putting on a show: Burberry used a rain machine to create rain outside the clear tent, while inside models walked out using umbrellas while confetti shot out from the ceiling. I took some quick notes for you to read.

McQ: Salma Hayek sat in the front row with her husband and Anna Wintour. The space was super dark and dramatic, and the floor was covered in wood chips. For the finale, the model wore all white, and she walked down the runway under falling leaves. Halfway through she stopped, dug into a pile of wood chips, and pulled out a rope, which led her into this makeshift forest. Pretty dramatic, no?

Rewind: Fall TV's Hits and Misses

We shared our picks for the best and worst Fall TV shows.
The Academy Awards may be months away, but the show already made news this week when Eddie Murphy bowed out as Oscar host and Billy Crystal emerged as the new host.
If you're as excited about The Muppets as we are, then you'll definitely want to check out our interview with Jason Segel and his Muppet costar, as well as our conversation with Amy Adams, who stars as Segel's girlfriend.
We also chatted with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, who dished about Ryan Gosling, and we talked to Joseph Morgan about his roles in Immortals and The Vampire Diaries.
In this week's music videos, we got to see a glimpse of Edward and Bella's Breaking Dawn honeymoon in the video for Bruno Mars's "It Will Rain," as well as an elderly version of Katy Perry in "The One That Got Away."
Election Tuesday has come and gone, but you can cast your vote on your favorite stars and shows now that the People's Choice nominations have been announced.
We got to see more pics of Christian Bale as Batman and Tom Hardy as Bane on the set of The Dark Knight Rises.
We can't wait to see how these songs from the Breaking Dawn soundtrack will play out in the film.
Speaking of Breaking Dawn, we finally got to see its star Kristen Stewart in the dark and dramatic Snow White and the Huntsman trailer.
With Immortals coming out this week, we decided to celebrate with pics of the hottest gods and warriors of the big screen

Sarah Jessica Parker and Her Twins Don't Let a Little Rain Slow Them Down

Sarah Jessica Parker had company of her twin daughters, Tabitha and Marion, during an afternoon out in NYC today. They braved the rain without umbrellas as they headed to an office building on the Upper West Side. SJP was back to her daily routine with her girls after getting glamorous at the NYC Ballet's Fall Gala last night. She wore a short white number by Stella McCartney and posed with the designer and other friends on the red carpet. It was just the latest fashionable evening for SJP, who also dressed up to premiere I Don't Know How She Does it in the Big Apple last week.

Mulberry Spring 2012

Inspired by the British seaside and all the campy fun that comes with it - donkey rides, ice cream, and the inevitable rain that makes great British Summer style synonymous with rain gear. That said, the palette was sweet as candy - literally the colors are named lemon sherbet, candy pink, and marshmallow white. The style is playful, but luxurious - there are raincoats, many of them with oversized silhouettes or super-short lengths and paired with long dresses and skirts. It's a mix and match style that manages to be sporty, but totally feminine thanks to details like lace applique and silky fabrics. Mulberry is known for accessories, and the new travel collection, inspired by vintage steamer trunks, features metal corners and a luggage tag. Inspired by the prizes won along beach-side arcades, Mulberry added teddy rivets and twist locks to the iconic Alexa and Lily style.

Trends: rain gear, short/long proportions, stripes.

Colors: candy twists on soft colors: lemon, candy pink, marshmallow, and fudge.

Key Look: we love the proportion play - short jackets with sweet dresses; also the animal-print dresses are amazing.

Accessories: shoes are woven sandals in mixed leather; the new bag collection is called the Travel Collection. The Alexa bag gets adorned by a mini-teddy bear rivet.

Who Would Wear It: fun, eclectic girls like Kirsten Dunst or Sarah Jessica Parker.

Artists and DIYers Transform the Ubiquitous White Lawn Chair

In any town, nearly anywhere across the world, you're likely to come across the ubiquitous white plastic lawn chair. This monoblock design can be stacked, left out in the rain, easily transported, and used for a variety of outdoor events, from tailgating to backyard parties. That said, it's a chair that I am endlessly tired of looking at - and I'll admit, there are a couple of these chairs hanging out in our basement. Given that we're into the Summer season, you can guarantee that you'll see many of these chairs around your neighborhood. If you're tired of looking at them, take heart. I've been wowed by the ways that artists and DIYers have taken inspiration from this rather uninspiring chair (you can see many of the redesigns lovingly cataloged on Functional Fate). Here are some of my favorites, from both the worlds of high art and everyday DIY.

Pippa Middleton Heads to Work on Her 28th Birthday!

Pippa Middleton turns 28 today, but the special milestone didn't get in the way of her commute to work! She wore a white dress and black blazer to visit a Starbucks before heading to her office in the London rain. Any celebrations for her birthday may have to wait for the weekend, but a few people close to Pippa may start partying for a different reason today. Sarah Burton and McQueen were nominated for British Fashion Awards this morning, in part thanks to the accolades they received from dressing Pippa and her sister Kate for the April 29 royal wedding.

First Look at Edward, Bella, and Jacob in Breaking Dawn!

Entertainment Weekly got the first official look at Breaking Dawn with two steamy covers - one features Jacob's smoldering gaze and the other Edward and Bella in a tender moment. Filming on the final two Twilight saga installments just finished in Vancouver this week, and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart took care of reshoots in the Caribbean last weekend. The two were spotted working on Edward and Bella honeymoon scenes on the beach and in the water. Kristen Stewart spoke to EW about the pivotal Breaking Dawn wedding and more:

On the wedding: "It was one of the coolest things that I’ve done. There was a certain point when I walked on set, and I saw everyone from the entire cast sitting there in the pews, about to do their bit. And it was just so perfect for me in that moment. It was so emotional in such a real way. I literally felt like thanking them for coming."
On the sex scene: "It feels like a real love scene, not necessarily vampirey, which is good."
On the birth scene: "It’s funny because when [the PG-13 issue] comes up, everybody thinks it’s all about the sex. The birth is really effective, and I’ve heard it really hits you in the face. But what it could have been? It could have been shocking and grotesque, because that’s how it was written in the book. I would have loved to have been puking up blood."
Taylor on the difficulties of being a werewolf: "Everybody is always complaining to me that I don’t have to wear the contacts, I don’t have to wear the white makeup or wear wigs and all that stuff. And I’m like, 'I’m the one in the freezing rain and cold not wearing a shirt! I paid my dues in New Moon and Eclipse.'"
Taylor on imprinting: "There were many times I walked up to Stephenie [Meyer] and asked her, 'What exactly is imprinting?' It’s still a very confusing thing for me, so don’t ask."

Brooke Burke and David Charvet tied the knot off the coast of St. Barts earlier this month and now the newlyweds are sharing photos from their intimate sunset ceremony! The family of six made it appear like they were on an annual trip to the tropical island, but secretly Brooke and David had plans to say "I do" aboard a private boat docked just off shore. The bride wore a custom-made Mark Zunino gown and diamond accented Jimmy Choo sandals, while the groom wore a simple white shirt and matching pants. David and Brooke exchanged vows in front of their four children, Shaya, Rain, Seirra, and Neriah, two friends, and the ship's captain. The days following the nuptials were jam-packed with more beach time and bikini fun for the just-married pair; Brooke even showed off her new Peter Marco wedding band during an afternoon lounging on the sand with David - click through to see all the photos from their secret wedding!
