Trend Alert: Summertime Neon Nails

Check out the neon nails on Diane Kruger! Ever since the Costume Institute Gala I've been dying to talk about how she matched her shoes to her nails.

Celebrities and especially teenagers are going bonanza over the new fun, pop-colored nail polish quads from Essie and Chanel. They contain four minisized bottles of pink, yellow, orange, and either a blue or purple high-shine varnish. I'll be the first to admit that these electric '80s-inspired shades are fresh, but I think I would only dare to wear them on my toes. Are you confident enough to cruise around in these colors?

Color Power from Essie ($15 for four) is a great way to brighten up your fingers or toes for summertime. The white box has bright flowers printed on it and houses a red, yellow, orange, and a shimmery opalescent, bright-blue lacquer with flirty names such as cool click, flirty girl, crush, and txt me.

The Chanel Robertson Collection ($25 for four) is set to launch online in July. This minirange is named after Robertson Boulevard, the young and hip shopping street in Los Angeles where Chanel has just opened a boutique.

The collection includes a pink, purple, yellow, and tangerine polish and each shade is named after other famous streets nearby like Melrose, Rodeo Drive, LA Sunrise, and LA Sunset. Ain't it grand when beauty and fashion can collaborate like this!

Love It or Hate It? Jordan's Neon Pink Nails

Yesterday in London, Katie Price was spotted returning to the Mayfair Hotel. I'm not sure if she was trying to keep a low profile (after leaving her solicitor's office), however, her hot pink sunglasses and neon nails glowed through the back-seat of her van giving away her anonymity. I remember that bright, fluorescent nails were big last Summer, and I guess they're back again for round two. What do you think of Ms. Price's high wattage nail polish?

Coming Soon: Cuddle Up With Essie's 2009 Autumn Collection

Dust off your cashmere sweaters from your wardrobes and get ready to cosy up to Essie's newest nail collection. This six-colour line consists of four muted Autumnal rose, brown and grey shades along with two brights (pink and orange) to keep that Summertime neon trend going.The polishes were inspired from the bold furs and subdued knits on the Autumn/Winter 2009 runways. Essie Weingarten, Founder of Essie said in a recent press release,

"At the shows, designers showed striking tailored pieces in muted fabrics that exploded with bright pops of color – that was really refreshing and exciting. I applaud that fresh color perspective and chose to incorporate that trend into our Fall Color Collection – the mix of deep hues and happy brights is like no other collection we’ve done before."

All of the polishes are three-free from toluelene, DBP and formaldehyde. The collection is already available in the states and will be on sale in the UK in just a few weeks for £8.95 each. My favourite is Angora Cardi, a weathered, medium pink that looks warm on your skin and would be gorgeous paired with a brown leather jacket or a pale ruffled tunic and dark blazer. Angora Cardi is a deep and shiny rose shade - a must have for Autumn!
Mink Muffs is a smoky, chocolate brown with a hint of army green undertones.
Chinchilly is a taupey, creamy looking shade of grey.
Midnight Cami is a navy blue with flecks of blue glittery sparkles throughout.
Bright Tights is almost more than neon - it's electric orange with a high shine finish!
Pink Parka definitely screams more of a fun Summer pink, than a wintry tone, however, it's powerful, sexy and would certainly stand out on the slopes.

Back in college, I had a love/hate relationship with fake nails. While I loved that my nails almost always looked polished and pretty, I hated the upkeep - and the fact that I could never seem to get the relief I needed when I had a scratch. Do you hear me on that one?

Maybe you prefer a natural looking fake nail, or perhaps you like to make a statement with the bold, like these soon-to-be-available Neon Limited Edition French Nails from Kiss ($6), for instance. Trend Alert: Peachy Keen Nail Polish

Bright peachy, orangey corals (how's that for a description) are all the rage this Summer. They're a terrific way to work colour into your look either on your nails or on your toes (for those of you that are a bit more reserved). In April, I told you about my favourite shade from Nails Inc. called Festival Pier, but now, I'm torn between three more choices in the same tenor.

The first is a bright poppy peach shade from Essie called One Of A Kind (£8.95). The second is a softer, sexy pale orange from Chanel called Orange Fizz (£15), and the last, and perhaps the brightest and shiniest of the crew, is more of a neon coral from Illamasqua's latest Sirens Collection called Lament (£12.50)

Out of these peachy nail polishes which one are you most keen to try? Orange you glad these flirty shades are this season's "it' colours?

Illamasqua's New Spring/Summer Sirens Collection is Here!

A few months ago I told you about a new brand in the UK called Illamasqua that I've totally fallen in love with. The pigments are the richest I've ever encountered, the assortment of jaw-dropping colours rival MAC (no, I'm not kidding) and the textures are so creamy, velvety and luxurious that time stands still when you're at the counter. Can't you just feel my excitement!

I can't speak highly enough about this new discovery and it just keeps getting better. Last week they launched their Spring/Summer Sirens Collection and I was lucky enough to get a tour (and an incredible makeover) at their London counter at Selfridges. There before me stood a hunky young male mode getting bronzed and brightened from head to toe with the new goodies - and let me tell you, it was hot! The range was inspired by the enchanting beauty and divine appeal of the Sirens and includes corals, blues a scope of serious metallics (the star product being the liquid metals) for your eyes, face, lips, body and nails.

Nails

Muse (£12.50) is an opaque, bright teal nail varnish that you can see on the model in the photo.
Lament (£12.50) is a flirty, opaque neon coral nail polish that looks especially gorgeous on bronzed skin.

Face

Bronzing Duo (£18) is available in two shades: Glint/Burnish is a darker combo, whilst, Glint/Writhe is a little bit lighter for those with fairer skin. The Glint side is a powder highlighter and the other sides is shimmery powder bronzer.
Liquid Metal in Enrapture and Solstice (£16) are metallic cream pots that can be used on the face or body. The colours are seriously intense, so they should be used sparingly and then layered until you get your desired result. Solstice is a rich gold and Enrapture is a hearty bronze.
Fat Pencils in Fickle, Wilful and Peverse (£12.72) are fabulous multi-use products as they can be used on the eyes, lips and body.

Eyes

4-Colour Powder Eye Shadow Palette (£33.28) contains four differing blendable yet bold powder shadows in bronze, teal, blue and gold.
Shimmer Cream in Eternal (£14) is a grey and creamy eye gloss that creates a wet-look finish. Tip: It can be used all over the body not just on the eyes.

Lips

Fable Lipstick and Resist Lipstick (£14 each). Fable is a pale pink that looks great paired with a smoky eye and Resist is a deep, matte raspberry shade.
Soul Sheer Lipgloss (£12.50) is a shimmery pinky gold colour that looks gorgeous alone or blended over Fable and Resist.

Katie to Be Questioned by Police as Exes Cause Chaos

Katie Price visited her divorce lawyer yesterday before heading to the Mayfair Hotel, matching her bright pink bag to her neon nails: do you love or hate them? Her new spokesman explained Kate pulled out of her interview with Jonathan Ross because she's "not ready to talk that publicly". In another OK! column, Kate writes about her birthday party, upcoming catwalk appearance and next novel, Sapphire, but while work is going well, her personal life gets messier. Big Brother's Billi Bhatti claims they had a "cyber-affair", but Kate's spokesperson has dismissed the claims as "totally nuts – absolute rubbish". Kate's ex-boyfriend Dane Bowers is also causing problems, claiming he was with Kate after police found him next to a crashed car outside Kate's house, so she will be questioned by police to confirm his story.

Trend Alert: Orange Nails

We've been seeing a lot of hot pink nails lately and we've heard everyone go on about neon nails, but the only one who's really been wearing any of the other super-bright shades has been Rihanna.

I predict that all of this is about to change. With the warm weather setting in and Lindsay Lohan getting on the orange-nail bandwagon, something tells me that this trendsetter is going to jump-start a neon-nail bonanza. Here are two new bright Summer orange lacquers I think you'll love.

Essie Mini Shorts ($8) is part of the Summer Neon collection. Out of all four colors, the orange is by far the most fun and the boldest.

If you're scared to test it out, just close your eyes and think of it as a really bright coral or melon shade. Or, you can try it on your toes (like I did). It's vibrant, but addictive.

Color Club Nail Color in Amp'd Up ($1.99) is part of the Flower Power Neon collection. All of the colors in this range are outrageous and bright (perfect for Summer). The polishes are fast drying, free of toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP, and they dry to a high-shine finish.

Trend Alert: Poppy Lipstick

For those of you who like to match your lips and your nails, poppy lipstick is making a strong statement this Spring. In the past week alone we've seen Jodie Kidd model new St. Tropez tanning products, Chloë Sevigny attended the Chloe Los Angeles Boutique opening and Alexis Bledel went to a Tribeca Film Festival premiere, all with a bright and flirty poppy pout.

The colour poppy can best be described as an electric or neon red. It contains hints of orange, coral and pink, and always catches your eye because of it's vibrant and cheerful tone. Tip: Poppy lipstick is best worn with a little bronzer, black liner and mascara. Don't overdo it by adding too much colour to your eyes or cheeks, as poppy lipstick speak volumes on it's own.

A few of my favourite shades of poppy lip products are Nars Lipstick in Manhunt (£17). This red is quite sheer, however it delivers a substantial punch of colour. Chantecaille Lipstick in Poppy (£22.51) is a bright, creamy and long-lasting shade free of talc, oil and lanolin. To make it matte, dust a setting powder over the lipstick and blot with a tissue. Lastly, I love Elizabeth Arden 3.5g Colour Intrigue Effects Lipstick in Poppy Cream (£16). This flirty shade hydrates and softens the lips whilst adding intense shine.
