Benefit keeps rolling out the quirky and cheeky ideas, and The Overnighter ($38) is no exception. The "sleepover set" contains a set of miniature primping products and a Hanky Panky thong. If you've never worn a Hanky Panky thong, get your butt in gear — they straddle the divide, as it were, between comfort and sexiness. (And one size really does fit most.)

The makeup kit is pretty sweet, too: Justine Case is a little box to toss in your purse. Inside, it has California Kissin' lip gloss, Eyecon eye cream, the legendary cheek and lip stain Benetint, and Some Kind-a Gorgeous "foundation faker." (The last comes in the lighter of the two available shades, FYI.) I plan to keep this thing in my bag in case Mr. Gosling decides to ask me on a date sometime. You know, just in case.

I love beautifully designed makeup (witness Lancôme's elephant-adorned bronzer, for example). But you know what I don't love? After using the item once or twice, the colors blend together and the perfect design is over. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal — but why shell out big bucks just for the design?

That is why I am excited about these Marimekko for Avon palettes, which feature the Finnish textile brand's iconic Unikko print. At $8 for the eye shadow palette and $10 for an all-over face palette, they won't make you too depressed when the design begins to look less crisp. Cute and cheap? CasaSugar will be thrilled.

New Product Alert: Zeno Mini

Pimple-stopping devices are great — if you can afford to shell out the big bucks for them. In fact, in comparing Zeno to Thermaclear, one of my main complaints about the otherwise awesome Zeno was its price. Oh, but times have changed!

Zeno has recently released a smaller version of its zit-zapping device. The Zeno Mini ($89) is petite and portable, but it still helps stop pimples from forming. Aside from the lower price, it's great because it's powered by AAA batteries; the original Zeno needs to be charged, and there are times when it would be out of juice right when Krakatoa was about to erupt on my chin. Now all I have to do is pop in a battery and stop that bad mutha from getting any bigger. Plus, how much does the new design look like Eve from Wall-E? So cute, and much more budget-friendly!

I wonder if the rise in coffee shops that serve frothy-topped cappuccinos and lattes is what's causing this sudden boom in cleansing foams. OK, it's a stretch, but Philosophy has just come out with a new version of its best-selling face wash called Purity Made Simple High-Foaming Daily Cleanser ($21.50 - $34.50).

This light and thin (it's almost watery-looking) liquid cleanser comes out of the pump in a surprisingly lush and sudsy consistency. It has a fresh and slightly floral scent and contains tocotrienol, a more powerful version of vitamin E, for soothing purposes. What it doesn't contain anymore is sodium lauryl sulfate — hooray!

My favorite part is that it's strong-acting, but you don't have that awful, tight feeling on your skin after you wash it off. Instead, your face is clean, soothed, and soft. Also, it's suitable for all skin types. I have sensitive skin and it didn't cause any irritations for me. Do you think you'd be into checking out this new self-foaming cleanser?

Try saying this one three times fast. Not only is this new SweetHoneyDip ChocolateBrownSugah Scrub ($34) from Carol's Daughter so good that you can almost eat it, but it works wonders to slough away dead skin cells. After trying this sweet treat in a hot bath last weekend, I loved the way it left my skin feeling moisturized, soft and luxuriously smooth.

It's packed with real chocolate, honey, vanilla bean and chunks of brown sugar (a natural exfoliant) so it smells divine and feels incredible on your body. It's also formulated with a blend of evening primrose oil, omega 6-fatty acids, vitamin E and olive oil to help restore elasticity and hydrate dry skin.

You may think that the honey, sugar and chocolate would be way too sticky to put on your body, but it's actually not that bad. If you apply a teaspoon at a time to the palms of your hands, then rub it into your wet skin in small circular motions, you'll be all set. Oh, and if you lick a little "by accident" while you're at it, don't worry, it's not going to hurt you — although I'd advise nibbling an actual dessert after a good scrub instead.

Last week Fresh introduced their second mascara to the world called Firebird ($26). This new lengthening mascara was inspired by a famous Russian fairy tale called The Firebird. The story is about a majestic bird with full, feathery magical wings that caused many deaths to the men who tried to seize it.

Firebird mascara won't kill you; it'll just make your lashes look lush. It has an extra-long brush that helps curl, elongate and add volume. Available only in black, it's formulated with seabuckthorn berry oil, red algae, and panthenol. The result is soft, bohemian, wing-like lashes as opposed to glamorous, thick and shiny lashes that you can get from their original SuperNova Mascara.

What I like best is that all you need is one stroke for great results. I can spend upwards of one minute on each eye applying my mascara, but this brush is so lush that it manages to hit just about every lash. (OK, fine, you many need one more stroke here and there to hit those stubborn little hairs closest to your eyes). Also, so far in my experience it doesn't clump or flake. Now that's magical!

A Philosophical Approach To Shine-Free Skin

Brand-new from Philosophy is a range of mattifying skincare products called Never Let Them See You Shine. Each of the three items aim to cut down sebum production and reduce the look of oily skin, while leaving your face feeling refreshed. The light blue formulas have a minty, sea-inspired scent and are best suited for those with oily and acne-prone sensitive skin.

After trying everything out, I really liked the way my face reacted to the scrub the best. It's thick, but it spreads easily and the beads are smooth as opposed to feeling grainy and rough — so they don't irritate your skin. Plus, the menthol is the strongest in the scrub; after you wash it off, your face feels soft, smooth and cool.

Smashbox Gets Wicked Lovely For Fall

Smashbox wants us to think of the naughty/nice paradigm with its new collection, Wicked Lovely, but instead, I keep thinking of Boston slang.

Annnnyway: Smashbox's Fall collection is out on the early side, and as you'd expect, the mood is more intense than that of Summer makeup. But don't be fooled by the Siouxsie Sioux bent of the ad campaign; although there are dark cherry lip glosses and sooty eye shadows for smoldering looks, there are plenty of lighter color options for a softer style. I'm looking forward to checking out this cream liner set ($32), which includes three cream liners and a sparkling pewter powder. Sounds promising — if potentially messy. Do you like the looks of this? Or is it too vampy?

New Product Alert: Aveda Dry Remedy System

When Aveda launches a new concept, the company tends to do it in bulk. Such was the case with its Outer Peace acne-treatment regimen (and the subsequent men's hair-care line), and the same rings true with the just launched Dry Remedy. There's the requisite shampoo and conditioner, plus a hair mask (and a free comb if you buy the three as a set).

The system also follows the company's tradition of using plant and flower essences in its products. It does this, primarily, with its use of buriti oil and pomegranate, which Aveda claims help penetrate the hair with moisture; and, secondarily, with meadowfoam, soybean, and sunflower seed oils, used to help seal in the moisture.

I haven't tried this particular line, but I'm glad to see Aveda moving in this direction since I've found some of their shampoos, specifically Brilliant and Shampure, to be very drying, especially with daily use. Have you had a similar issue with Aveda shampoo, and, if so, will you try Dry Remedy?

New Product Alert: Get Wet from It Cosmetics

I've heard of waterproof eye shadows, mascaras and eyeliners, but never have I encountered waterproof makeup for your face. However, all of that changed when I discovered Get Wet ($32), a new waterproof and sweat-proof highlighter and bronzer from It Cosmetics. The three-pan compact includes a deep, matte powder bronzer and two powder highlighters (one much paler than the other).

It can be used on your face and your body to create an all-over tan, or to contour just about anything that you're looking to accentuate or hide (i.e. chest, nose, jaw-line, abs).

Take it from a pro and CEO, former Baywatch babe Jamie Kern Lima: she says she's "had to hide just about every body and face concern a person can have."

Get Wet is easy to use. The trick is using a large fluffy brush so that you can buff and blend it into your skin. Apply the matte bronzer to contour your features and the highlighters to accent them. Get Wet is available in one color and claims to work for all skin tones. In my honest opinion, it's way too dark for anyone with porcelain skin but for anyone else, it should be fine.

The finely-milled powder is extraordinarily rich in pigment, so be sure to begin with a gentle hand. I have yet to test my (ahem) newly chiseled abs in the ocean or the pool, but I wore it to a party where I was dancing (and sweating) up a storm and it stayed intact until I washed it off with soap and water. My initial concern was that it was going to clog my pores, but it didn't — pretty cool stuff, if you ask me. Do you think you'd be into trying waterproof makeup?

It has been nearly a year since Kate Hudson announced that she was diving into the beauty business, and only now are we able to see the fruits of her labor. Kate, with stylist David Babaii, worked to create David Babaii for Wildaid. The 10-piece line currently consists of all the usual suspects like shampoos, conditioners, and pomades — with mousse and hairspray on the way — as well as a hair dryer and flat iron. The products are all in the mid-tier price range ($11.95 to $14.95) with the styling tools on the higher end of the scale ($119.95 for both the flat iron and the hair dryer), but the good news is that part of the proceeds will benefit the Wildaid wildlife protection program. I'm sold, how about you?

New Product Alert: Addicted To Speed

Brand-new from the Lippmann Collection is a quick-dry polish called Addicted To Speed ($20). Despite its strong smell (P.U.!) and hefty price tag (that's 20 bills for a top-coat, sheesh) it really does work to get your fingertips functional again in a few minutes.

Although your nails won't be thoroughly dry, they'll be touch dry and non-tacky which means that you can put on your coat, dial the phone and begin to go on with your day (a nice change from the waiting game of manicures).

The directions say to hold off for about two minutes after you've applied your final coat of colored-polish and then paint on an even, thin coat. Tip: You don't want to glop it on like you would with other brands; this is important for optimal results. It provides a high-shine finish and it contains UV protection to help preserve your polish color. All things considered, are you excited to try Addicted To Speed?

Oh Man: Kiehl's Adds Two Newbies to Their Facial Fuel Collection

I guess I missed the memo, but apparently July is the greatest grooming month of all time for guys. First we heard about Bobbi Brown's new Yogi Bare Lip Balm and now Kiehl's is getting ready to launch two new items in their famed royal blue-packaged Facial Fuel Collection. The first product is a creamy and amazing-scented No-Shine Lip Balm ($8.50) and the second is an Anti-Wrinkle Cream ($35).

The lip balm is made from a blend of jojoba oil, apricot kernel oil, shea butter, and sweet almond oil to create a soothing, hydrating and pepper-minty fresh lip treat that feels creamy, yet has a completely matte finish. The hook is that it's for guys, but I kinda feel like Kiehl's products are unisex. Having said that, I wouldn't deny the special man in my life from scoring this lip balm, but he's definitely going to have to share it with me — yes, it's really that good.

The face moisturizer is oil free, lightweight, and it won't clog your pores. It claims to firm, tighten, and reduce the visibility of fine lines, while cooling your skin (something I think guys will appreciate postshave). It contains all kinds of goodness such as birch extract, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and horse chestnut to make the skin look more radiant and awake. Do these products interest you as potential gifts for Father's Day?

New Product Alert: Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder

So I've kinda fallen in love with this Make Up For Ever Microfinish Powder ($30). I ran across it yesterday at Sephora and was skeptical of the High Definition name. "Harrumph," I harrumphed. "This is just going to be a big ol' nothing. Harrumph!"

But then I tapped a little bit in my hand, and what do you know? It's brilliant! The idea is that the translucent powder smooths out imperfections in skin and helps to set foundation. And it does, but the more impressive thing is that it makes your skin feel like silk. After putting a little on the back of my left hand, it was so soft that I kept stroking my hand while meandering through Sephora. Between the hand-petting and the humming of Billy Squier, I probably seemed certifiably cuckoo.

On the face, it softens the appearance of fine lines and discolorations, which is always a plus. Before I get too far in my praise, I should add that there isn't anything magical about this product; it's just silica powder, versions of which you can buy for less money at cosmetic-supply websites. I haven't tried that route, so I'm not sure if the quality is as high. But for now, check out the Make Up For Ever version. Then don't blame me if you can't stop touching your skin.

New Product Alert: Darphin Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum

French skin care company Darphin has just released a four-product collection called Intral. The gentle items are made from plant extracts, (namely grape, centella, hawthorn, chamomile and peony) and they're meant to soothe, comfort and calm, red, irritable, sensitive skin.

I've tried a sample of the Redness Relief Soothing Serum ($110) and I really loved the texture, the clean scent and the results.

It has a watery consistency, but absorbs quickly to a matte finish. It smells like peonies and botanicals mixed together giving it a heavenly and relaxing aroma. I've only used it twice so I can't attest to it changing my skin completely, but I like the cool feeling on my face and that the redness was reduced considerably in just a few hours. I would happily recommend this product, but it's expensive. Do you think you'd buy a facial serum for $110?

New Product Alert: Enbrightenment BriteSmile Whitener and Tarte Lip Gloss

I haven't tried this new Enbrightenment BriteSmile Whitener & Tarte Lipgloss ($26) yet, but it totally caught my eye when I was web shopping over the weekend. From what I understand, one side of the tube contains a vitamin-rich lip gloss and the other side houses a teeth-whitening formula.

The teeth-whitening side contains .05 oz. of BriteSmile bleaching formula with a brush on the end of the wand to facilitate application. I've heard mixed reviews about BriteSmile. Some say it's worked wonders, while others have experienced overbearing toothaches and post-treatment sensitivity.

The lip gloss side contains .05 oz. of antioxidant-rich fruits such as goji berry, maracuja, acerola, pomegranate, jojoba seed oil, and acai and there's also a brush on the end for smooth and even application. The two available shades; pearly pink and radiant red are described as sheer with a peppermint flavor. The idea behind the product sounds interesting and practical enough to me — a bright, white smile (within 14 days) enhanced by a lip gloss. Have any of you tried it yet? If so, what are your thoughts?

New Product Alert: The Balm Read My Lips Lipstick

Extra, extra! The Balm is full of news. Not only have they just launched a set of six new lipsticks called Read My Lips ($16), but I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Marissa, the matriarch of The Balm, on the birth of her baby! These media-inspired lipstick shades have cute names such as Letter to the Editor, Gossip, and Classified.

The texture is sheer and shiny, and since the lipsticks include olive oil and jojoba, they glide smoothly right over your lips. Also, as opposed to having a traditional lipstick-glycerin smell, they are infused with mint and vanilla. You'll feel a little bit of tingle at first, but don't worry, it's not a lip plumper that's just the mint. Lastly, all of the packaging is eco-friendly since it's made from secondary forests and recycled paper. I'm really into Smut, a pretty shimmering plum. New Product Alert: MAC Neo Sci-Fi Collection

MAC's latest makeup collection, Neo Sci-Fi, is likely to be polarizing. Some people love the bold shock of orange packaging, while others think the splash of color is too much. Personally, I like the unusual packaging because it feels summery and fresh. Plus, it reminds me of Uhura from Star Trek.

What's interesting about this collection is that although the containers are bold and bright, almost all of the colors are on the neutral side. There's a lot of frost and shimmer, though, so it's not for wallflowers. If you're usually a Bobbi Brown kind of girl, think of this as a way to turn the natural look into something a little more flashy. I'm so glad to see the return of Soft & Slow Lipglass ($14), which is a great medium plum with just a few flecks of gold. Fab liked it on my lips so much that she went to buy it for herself, only to find out that it was limited-edition — so this is going to make her day.

New Product Alert: Mally Couture Color Custom Blush

I first introduced you to presto-chango makeup back in March '07 and now, Mally has just come out with another kind of "magical" makeup called Couture Color Custom Blush ($25). This lightweight, cream blush comes out of the tube a sheer, white shade and transforms into either a deep berry or a medium rosy color as it gets rubbed into your cheeks. Blend gently for a natural glow, or keep blending for a deeper, darker effect.

The blush was inspired by the gorgeous natural flesh of Mally's baby girl. She wanted to make something rich in pigment, yet featherweight in texture, to create the most natural as possible look. I find that the rose shade suits my fair skin the best, but for anyone who is olive or dark skinned, I'd go with berry.

For first-time users, I recommend applying it to the back of your hand to test out the amount and to see how much blending you'll need. Are you excited to try this customizable, cream blush?

New Product Alert: Stila SPF 20 Shine Lip Color

Stila has just introduced a creamy, sheer, and glossy lip product called Stila SPF 20 Shine Lip Color ($22). These moisturizing lipsticks are formulated with vitamins A, C, E, vegetable oil and antioxidants to provide a rich texture with a lightweight feel.

They have a faint sweet vanilla scent and come packaged in a slim silver case with flower vines etched into the tube — and in true Stila lip color form, the shades are named after women. My favorite of the group is Chelsea, a fruit-punch coral color packed with shimmer and shine.

At first glance, the eight available shades seem bright and intimidating, but actually, they come off much more tame when applied to your lips. Also, I love that they contain SPF 20. Now you can look pretty and protect your skin at the beach, at the park, or at any other outdoor place. Chelsea is definitely going to become my beach bag must-have this summer. New Product Alert: Lipstick Queen Shine Hard Core Gloss

Ladies, take your bodyguards along for protection when you wear your new Shine Hard Core Gloss ($22) from Lipstick Queen. Creator Poppy King knew exactly what kind of trouble she was causing for us when she re-launched this 1970's disco-inspired product. Think of Paris Hilton's gleaming pout and then multiply it ten-fold.

There's nothing subtle whatsoever about this thick, tacky, sticky, goopy, gooey gloss. The closest analogy I can think of is how honey keeps lingering until you use your finger to stop the drip. This has a similar consistency, only honey smells sweet. Shine Hard Core Gloss has an old-school thing going on instead; it's odorless, so you really are just smelling the actual ingredients. All of this being said, I love this product. It's fun, it's daring — and it's best worn on a day with no wind! If you're looking for a wet-looking, extreme shine kind of gloss, this pot's for you!

New Product Alert: Thierry Mugler Beauty

French fashion designer Thierry Mugler hasn't shown a clothing collection since 2000, but the beauty arm of his business is doing very well. After releasing hit fragrances Angel and Alien, he's now launching a collection of luxury cosmetics. I haven't seen it yet in person, but the concept is intriguing.

The line is called The Art of the Metamorphosis, which I find a bit overly dramatic. (Then again, I thought of Kafka when I discovered the name, so who's overly dramatic now?) The product line itself has the usual suspects (foundation, lipstick) but adds a few unexpected items as well. For instance, Cils Vinyle ($49) is a vinyl-look gloss — not a mascara — that is meant to be painted on each lash at a time. Flash Lips ($39) is a lip primer that prepares lips for color application.

The design, of course, is pure Mugler: hard-edged, sleek, and otherworldly. (The website is filled with stars and moons and planets.) For all of its intergalactic branding, the concept feels weirdly retro to me; it seems like an '80s interpretation of what 2008 would feel like, all cold android chic. Are you feeling it or not?

America's sweetheart, Reese Witherspoon, sure is working doubletime as the Avon spokesperson by participating in the Avon Foundation Walk For Breast Cancer in Washington, DC this weekend. Not only do I love her for being such a do-gooder, but she's pretty darn adorable in that plaited ponytail.

Becoming the new Avon lady means that we'll be seeing much more of that crisp smile and beautiful skin in the coming months. The first product she has helped launch (just a few weeks ago) is Avon Pro-to-Go Lipstick ($5.99). New Product Alert: Mark Skin Care

Mark, Avon's sister brand, is aimed at a younger audience — hence the choice of Lauren Conrad as the spokesmodel. Its target audience is teenagers and early twentysomethings, but after trying its new skin care line, I'm convinced this brand should have a wider appeal.

Don't look for a lot of gimmicks from this line; it's all about good basics such as cleansers, toners, and moisturizers. Everything is loaded with antioxidants, it's oil-free, and it's also fragrance-free. The scents of the products come from food-derived ingredients such as sugar maple, bilberry, pomegranate, and pumpkin seed. A great feature is the lotion packaging: you just press down on the top and the right dose of moisturizer comes out.

If you try one thing from this line, make it For Goodness Face ($15). This moisturizer features a broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen (with dark chocolate and blueberry to provide antioxidants). It absorbs quickly and works well under makeup, and it has the vague scent of cocoa beans. The only drawback? I like it so much that I used up a jar within a month.

New Product Alert: Sonia Kashuk Spray Makeup

I've been looking at DiorSkin Airflash for a few months, but I wanted to play around with this kind of product before dropping $60 on it. So finding these new spray-on products from Sonia Kashuk is a delight. The makeup artist's first limited-edition collection, available at Target, includes Eliminate Shine ($12.99) and Golden Summer ($12.99).

Spray products might seem like a gimmick at first, but they're actually legitimate. The particles are so small that they can be sprayed, which can help you get a smoother, more natural look. Eliminate Shine is a light tan powder that helps mattify skin. Because it goes on so sheerly, it made my skin look more even-toned and less shiny after a busy day of blogging. There is pigment in this, however, so I don't think it would work well for women who have dark skin — it'll just make your skin look ashy. On the other hand, the bronzer, Golden Shimmer, would be beautiful on olive- or caramel-colored complexions. It adds a bit of warmth and a slight sheen, and it would be particularly sexy on just-shaved legs.

Remember back in early March when I told you that Sally Hansen was partnering with Carmindy Bowyer from What Not to Wear to create a makeup line called Natural Beauty? Well, it has finally launched and I've just had the chance to check out the goods. The collection includes 16 items ranging from cream bronzers to lip glosses. The products are light in texture and rich in pigment. If I had to rate their blendability, I'd give them a seven on a scale of one to 10.

New Product Alert: Whish Shave Crave Pump

Whish has just released Shave Crave Pump, a new take on its scented shaving lotion. While the new product is similar to the original, I've done my homework to figure out a few of the differences. I've spoken to the peeps at Whish and had them explain what's behind these new slender bottles.

The old shave creams are 6.7 ounces and cost $32 while the new pumps contain five ounces for $24. The formula is more concentrated, therefore it's more moisturizing. Since it is packaged in an easier to use (this I can definitely vouch for) air can as opposed to an aerosol can, it's free of added chemicals like propane and alcohol which tend to dry out the skin.

Also, two new flavors, papaya coconut and blueberry mint (my fave), have been added to both products with the launch of the pump. I personally like most of the scents, but I do find them to be a little difficult to wash off. Have you tried any of them yet? For a description of each of the scents,

New Product Alert: Nars Orgasm Set

Ah, it's here: the Nars Orgasm set ($30). If you're not aware, Orgasm began as a beautiful pinky-peach blush with a hint of shimmer (and a long list of celebrity fans). It later became a Nars multiple, a lip gloss, and now it's a limited-edition nail polish.

The blush really does live up to the hype: It gives a great glow with just the right amount of color, so it's my daily go-to shade. (Psst, Revlon makes a clone that's pretty close, too.) I bought the lip gloss a couple of years ago, and while it's a pretty color, it isn't as much of a must-have. But now that the polish is available, I've ordered the set. At $30, it's actually a good deal for Nars — and the way that shade looks in the bottle is reason enough to have yet another Orgasm.

New Product Alert: Benefit Lust Dust Shimmer Dusters

It was only a matter of time before Benefit expanded its line of loose shimmer powders. First came the highly pigmented, bright Show Offs! eye shadows. And now, there's a line of sheer, shimmery powders for the eyes and face called Lust Dusters ($1.

The colors blend well, they are definitely shimmery and it's nice that you can use them as highlighters to your cheeks, nose, and décolletage. But let's just say that once you've seen one, you've seem them all. I hate to be like this, because I usually love all things Benefit, but I've asked around the office for additional opinions, and it's unanimous that unfortunately, they are no great shakes.

I do, however, love the cute names like Snow Bunny, Boom Boom, and Go Go Girl. They come in 10 colors (Big Daddy, a shimmery peachy-rust color is missing from the list online, but apparently that oversight is being fixed). If you really must have them (I know the feeling) then try using them over their Creaseless Cream Shadows for extra impact and let me know what you think.

Nom nom nom. DKNY is adding two more fragrances to its ever-expanding Delicious food chain. Be Delicious and Red Delicious are limited-edition versions of the original fragrances. They still have that apple scent, but this version is a little lighter and less intense for the warm months ahead.

Be Delicious Delicious Charmingly Delicious now contains more watery notes, citrus shimmer and is overall less potent. Red Delicious Charmingly Delicious has an added vanilla, red fruit assortment, rose and violet essence additions.

What I like about these fragrances is that they aren't overly sweet (particularly Be Delicious Charmingly Delicious). They are great for daytime when you are looking for a strong scent (perhaps in the place of an antiperspirant) — and the packaging is perfect for any teenager or apple lover. Both eaux de toilette cost $55 for 4.2 ounces (quite a substantial size), and they come with removable apple charms.

New Product Alert: Lola Cosmetics Refine Line Concealer

Yesterday afternoon, I tried the newest product launch from Lola Cosmetics called Refine Shine Concealer ($22). What makes this concealer different from others is that it contains hyaluronic acid and brightening properties to keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated, smooth and even a little bit dewy.

It has a medium-to-thin creamy consistency (so it's not going to cover as thoroughly as, say, Time Balm concealer), but it will cover red spots and dark circles. Just the tiniest amount goes a long way. I find that it works best if I apply just a little bit of powder over anything red to ensure natural-looking all-day coverage. Lastly, it is available in five shades (from fair to mahogany) to match most skin tones.

New Product Alert: Flirt! Cosmetics Glamourazzi Lip Lacquer

Flirt! Cosmetics has just introduced a shiny treat called Glamourazzi Lip Lacquer ($12). Only three shades are out now, but come April, expect to see twelve more gorgeous glosses ranging from translucent to ruby red.

What makes these noteworthy is that the formula is a cross between a smooth opaque lipstick and a shiny gloss — however, this product isn't one-of-a-kind. If it reminds you of the November lip launch from Chanel then we're on the same page. But before you label it a knockoff, can you blame them for trying to re-create genius? As the saying goes, imitation is the best form of flattery.

The benefits of this breed of lip product are unmatched. You get more color and more staying power than a gloss, and they are not nearly as flat nor as drying as a lipstick.

The major differences between the two products is that the Flirt! brand uses shimmer, the cost is (significantly) lower and the texture is thicker. I happen to like both of them, but I like them for different reasons. The Flirt lacquer has more of a glossy look and feel, while the Chanel lacquer is more of a creamy lipstick with a little bit of shine. I'll leave it to you to test them out on your own.

New Product Alert: St. Ives Elements Protective Cleanser

When Freeze 24/7 released Ice Shield a couple of years ago, I was intrigued. The cleanser not only removes dirt and oil, it also protects skin with SPF 15. Innovative, no? My only complaint was the $48 price tag, which seemed a little high, even for a two-in-one product.

Ah, but now St. Ives has stepped in with its Elements Protective Cleanser ($7.99). The concept of this cleanser is the same: You simply wash your face as you would normally, which simultaneously "washes on" SPF 10 coverage. It's that simple, which should please those of you who prefer having as few steps as possible in your morning routine.

Although I like the lower-priced option, I'm not crazy about the relatively low SPF rating. SPF 10 is small potatoes; at the very least, you should wear SPF 15 every day, and SPF 30 is ideal. If you're serious about protecting your skin, you'll want a higher SPF. But if you're the type of person who doesn't wear sunblock every day already, this is a good way to get at least a little protection without adding another product to your skin-care regimen.

New Product Alert: Tarte Double Dose Lip Gloss

Over the past year or so, Tarte has redefined its brand to include more natural ingredients, and it's also come out with some more innovations. One of these products is Double Dose ($21), a lip gloss with a fruit-derived vitamin complex. Tarte calls it the t5 superfruit complex due to its blend of goji, acai, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate — all of which are high in antioxidants. On the healthy-girl tip, it also uses mineral pigments for color, and it's free of parabens, mineral oil, and phthalates.

I love the colors because they're flattering for so many different skin tones. What's more, the dual-tubed design of the product allows you to customize the shade that comes out on your lips. By squeezing from the middle, you'll get a more pigmented color; for sheerer coverage, squeeze from the tip of the tube. The only thing I'm not wild about is the inclusion of peppermint oil; it smells great, but the tingling sensation is a little much for me. (So sue me, I like boring lip sensations.) If, on the other hand, you like a little oomph with your lip gloss, you'll probably be very happy with Double Dose.

Bare Escentuals Hopes for Rebirth in New Orleans
