Perms get such a bad rap just because grandmas love them and they were a staple ingredient of '80s hair. Despite the fact that I know how useful they can be, and how many different kinds of perms there are, I might almost be hesitant to tell people if I got one, just for fear that they'd start laughing before I could explain.
