This is all kinds of depressing. A 21-year-old woman had been dating an Alba-obsessed guy who demanded she try to look just like her. (Ever the gentleman, he bought her a blond wig to wear.) Given the stress and general screwed-up nature of trying to look like someone else constantly, our heroine broke things off with him.

Although neither one of them is FDA-approved for the purpose, two new non-invasive fat reduction mechanisms, the Zerona laser and Zeltiq cooler, are building some buzz. Although the science behind them suggests some level of effectiveness, neither one of them seems to approach the level of traditional liposuction. The price per treatment for these procedures is lower, though, and you avoid potentially deadly complications from going under the knife.

There's a reason the Hollywood Hills are in the same part of the country as Silicon Valley, as Dolly Parton will happily tell you. But even among the rich and famous, opinions about plastic surgery differ widely — and only a few are as forthcoming as Ms. Parton.

Even if you're not crazy about Heidi Montag, it's hard not to feel concerned for her these days. The 23-year-old perpetual spotlight seeker just got 10 (yep, really) plastic surgeries that have rendered her nearly unrecognizable. In interviews, she's made glib statements about wanting "to go bigger on my boobs for [Spencer]" and picking out her various "new" body parts by looking at Playboy back issues.

According to Christian Louboutin, Barbie has cankles — but she's not the only one who needs a makeover to fit her stilettos. Apparently, donning perfectly crafted sky-high heels means women need perfectly re-crafted feet to match. In fact, even while most cosmetic procedures are on the decline — thanks to the recession — podiatrists report that the demand for cosmetic foot surgery is on the rise.

OK, there are a million bad apps out there already, but the Shafer Plastic Surgery App really puts the "terrible" in the "terribly useless." An "informational database of over 1,000 FAQ’s covering invasive and non-invasive plastic surgery procedures and treatments," this iPhone app seems designed mostly to tell young, trendy women about procedures that, if you're at all considering, you should be discussing directly with a doctor instead of a gadget. If plastic surgery is going to make you really, truly happy, then OK, go for it. But taking advice from your phone on how to look your best is probably not a wise idea.

This week, Denise Richards told Howard Stern that she's had three breast-augmentation surgeries. (Once, twice, three times a lady?) She had her first surgery when she was 19. "I was flat as a board, and I thought 'Whoa, you can just buy them' and stupidly had them done," she said.
