10 Perfect Spring Scents

With warmer weather and fewer sweaters (hopefully) upon us shortly, it's time to switch out fragrances. That cashmere musk that smells great under a camel coat and silk scarf just doesn't go with a shirtwaist and a handful of daffodils. Finding a fragrance for the season is tons of fun, and you can find something gorgeous and affordable without too much effort, I promise. To curate your search, I've been spritzing myself with every Spring scent known to man over the past few weeks, and now I'm giving you my top 10. Read on to kick off that last bit of chill and get sprung.

Trend Alert: Lovely Lilacs For Spring 2010

In my experience, Spring makeup trends fluctuate from year to year between pops of bold juicy, punchy colours and pretty pastels. However, what makes this year so special is the mix of lights and brights. The one colour that we see blooming all over the place is lilac. Purples have been reigning supreme for the past two years, be it in versions of dark, goth lip shades, metallic eye shadows or deep violet nail lacquers, but this season things are looking quite soft with a range of lovely lilacs.

The star product in the new NARS collection is a matte, dusty powder eye shadow called D. Gorgeous (£16), MAC is bringing us a beautiful ombre gradated blush called Azalea Blossom (£19.50) and Revlon, always on-trend at affordable prices, is launching a nail polish called Lilac Pastille which will be available at mass retailers this March (£6.29). Then there's a luscious new sheer, sparkling pale purple-pink lip Glossimer from Chanel called Futile (£17), and lastly Dior is launching a showstopping duo shadow in 945 which contains both a slate purple and a sweet light violet. Celeb Style: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron joined a slew of celebrities in Santa Monica for the organization Artists For Peace and Justice event to help Haiti. For the charitable festivities, the actress paired a fun yellow leopard print dress with a ruffled leather jacket. To keep herself warm, Charlize layered with black tights, patent platform pumps, and a Dior clutch. So polished and pretty.

Fab Ad: Karlie Kloss for Dior

The new year has introduced us to a lot of new ad campaigns. There is a big variation for Spring with bold shapes at Givenchy, controversial imagery at Lanvin and sultry Claudia Schiffer for Chanel. We can now add another to the mix as Karlie Kloss' first Dior campaign has been revealed. It was shot by Craig McDean as Karlie poses with a top handle black handbag. It's a classy image and Karlie looks very sophisticated, which I like. What do you think of this ad campaign?

Let me start by saying that I love Karlie Kloss with ginger locks! The adorable American model is the latest face for Dior's Spring '10 ad campaign. Doesn't she look like a young Lauren Bacall? I'm taken by the old-glamour vibe, that intense gaze, and the way she's flipping her collar. Miss Karlie's up to no good, and I'm dying to know what she'll do next. It's a bit mysterious, a bit dangerous. What do you make of Dior's latest ad?

Trend Alert: Pasty White Faces for Spring

Now that Paris Fashion Week is finally over, it's time to round up another beauty trend from the hottest fashion shows that France has to offer. Red lips have been and will always be in style, as will sexy, bed head hair. But a little more fashion forward and racy is next season's modern take on the white Geisha face.

At the Alexander McQueen show, faces were painted a sparkly, almost iridescent white colour. At John Galliano for Christian Dior, skin was uber pale and accentuated with dark plummy lips and eyes, and at the Tim Hamilton show, faces and lips were a sheer white shade. I don't know if I'd be brave enough to rock this trend, but it sure does make a statement. How about you - would you ever paint your face white for a party other than Halloween?

Do You Buy Beauty Products as Gifts?

Season after season I create beauty-related gift guides because I personally love gifting beauty products to my family and close friends. I realize that perfumes, makeup, nail polish, skincare and haircare items are quite personal purchases, especially when it comes to colours and scents. However, there are a handful of cult items that have been best sellers for so long, it's hard to ignore their universal appeal. Goodies like Chanel N°5 , Nars blusher in Orgasm or Revlon Red nail varnish don't make the most popular lists for years on end for nothing. So tell me, when it's time to indulge someone special, do you buy beauty products as presents?
