Get Natalie Portman's Perfect Pink Pout

Last night at the premiere of her new movie Brothers, Natalie Portman was looking her usual gorgeous self. Her lips were an especially perfect shade of pink, a color that her stylist Jeanine Lobell says is Chanel Aqualumiere Lip Gloss in Hirondelle ($27), which is part of Chanel's holiday collection. If you don't have access to the limited-edition shade, though, have no fear-I've put together a bunch of similar shades so that you can get Natalie's gorgeous lip look, too.

I went to work like this and thought I would share. Nothing spectacular but I wanted to show you guys my favorite red lipstick. If you want a bold red lipstick that screams LOOK AT ME, definitely try this on. You instantly feel sexy and made up even if you have little makeup on.

This is a true retro red. Be forewarned that this is a very, very matte lipstick. I love that about Ruby Woo, although I am sure some of you guys don't like mattes. There are some benefits of it being so matte: absolutely no feathering and it lasts forever! I can literally eat and I will only need a light touchup. Some might find it a touch drying, so keep your balm nearby or you can apply a balm underneath. Of course you can add a gloss, but I just love the matte finish. If you are ready for a true blue red that'll have heads turning, run to a MAC counter now!

Australian Schools Let Companies "Teach" Makeup

I know that marketing in schools is nothing new, but a program in Australia is taking things to a new level. A program called Fashion Roll Call, which is sponsored in part by makeup brand NP Set Cosmetics, is touring all-girl schools around the country. Their goal is to educate girls in fashion and beauty industry careers by presenting a "lunch-time fashion parade" followed by makeup application tutorials taught by makeup artists who work for NP Set.

When I was 13, I probably would have been excited for this, since it means no class and playing with stuff my parents wouldn't let me wear. But as an adult, I have mixed feelings. The cosmetics brand is getting choice branding access to kids in exchange for a few makeup tips. And since this program is being billed as educational, and intended to teach children about the fashion and beauty industries, why no boys or coed schools? There are tons of men in the fashion and beauty industries, and their absence suggests that the informational element here is a thin veneer to make aggressive marketing more palatable. Thandie Newton never fails to look gorgeous on the red carpet, and last night was no exception. Her look at the 2012 premiere was incredibly simple and easy but with tons of impact. On her eyes, she paired a thin line of pewter eyeliner with a taupe eye shadow brushed from lash line to brow bone. Then, she dusted a sheer wash of coral blush from the outer apples of her cheeks up to her temples, and finished up with a bright red lipstick with complementary orange undertones.
