On Our Radar: LC's Accessorizes Herself and Tells Us All About It!

Miss BellaSugar had the chance to chat with leader of The Hills at a Mark cosmetics event this week . . . and you know she had my back! We got the scoop on Lauren Conrad's beauty secrets as well as her new accessories line in collaboration with Mark cosmetics. As you know, LC is a brand ambassador and the company is launching a campaign called m.Powerment, which aims to speak out against domestic violence. Right on. More news, Lauren is launching an accessories collection with Mark. Between her Lauren Conrad collection and her success with the show, Lauren is on the up and up. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the colorful printed dress she wore at this event is from her Holiday collection.

One item to note is the 'Have a Heart Necklace' that is (only) $22 and 100 percent of the proceeds go to charity. Here's what LC had to say about the special necklace:

“I collaborated with Mark in doing the ‘Have a Heart Necklace,’ which you have in front of you guys, and we are all wearing. They come in silver and gold, they are double-sided. They have the little stones on one side and the little heart on the back of the pendant. It retails for $22 and 100 percent of the profit goes to charity. It's basically the gist of the charity. It also comes with a little extender in the back so you can kinda adjust how long you want. It's also fun to layer with different pieces. It’s just a kind of an easy piece for people to wear.”

LC on her accessory line with Mark:

"We [Mark and LC] collaborated together and did a line of accessories and we had a lot of fun with it. Oh, and you all get all of this to take home with you. I’ll go through them real quick. We started with bangles because they are easy and they’re not going anywhere. But we did them in silver and gold and we added just a little splash of color; a bit of orange on these and blue on the silver. And then we did - this is actually my favorite piece we did - we did rings that kind of have a little bit of a stud on them all the way around. We did them in gold and silver and you can wear them alone, I stack mine with a little ring, or you can even stack them together. They are just kind of fun and unique. Then we did - these are a little more fun and cute - we did kind of like this costume jewelry look where we did two rings in gold and silver and we did different colors on them. But they are kind of fun to dress stuff up with. And we did the headband because I love headbands. We did a headband and you can either wear it as a normal headband or when your hair is up or down you can put it in and pull your hair over it and then it kind of looks like a little hair accessory in your hair.”

LC on upcoming projects:

“I’m working on a couple things but they are still on their early stages. Obviously I’m always involved with Mark and now with the new charity will make it a little bit more involved. There’s that. I have the clothing line, between that and the show are most of my time because we are filming four times a week plus I have at least two fittings a week plus you know what we are designing. So that’s just every day. And then, my social life. [Laughs]. Because we do a lot of events and then also I don’t have a stylist or anything so every event I go to I can never wear the same thing. So I have to stop and get something to wear.”

LC on styling herself:

"Yeah. That’s the fun part! They asked me if I wanted a stylist and I’m like, that’s the funnest part."

LC on the headgear in the collection

"We did the little cabbie hat, which comes in the black and brown, which are cute for Fall because all these are coming out in back to school. And then we did this set right here, we did it in blue, and black over there. Kind of the draped down hat, you don’t necessarily have to wear in the Fall because you can wear it with a tanktop and jeans and that will look cute. We did a matching scarf with it, which is a long scarf that you can wrap a few times and the gloves which are kind of similar to those knit gloves you wear which are shorter but they are kind of long and go up to about here (points to elbow), because I was recently traveling a lot and I have all these really great coats that cut off right here (at elbow). And they’re really cute but you go outside and you’re really cold so this was kind of a way to make that simple glove a little bit more elegant. And that’s it.”

But, that's not it. Lauren is very excited about her latest endeavor and I'm sure we'll see her modeling her goods around town. What do you think? Are these more or less exciting than her clothing collection? I like the rings - the chunky rhinestone one and studded gold one. As for pricing, they are from $14-$22 and will be available September 16th at meetmark.com. One thing is for sure: LC is on a roll and we can assume she has more fashion tricks up her 3/4-inch sleeves.

Fab Flash: Lauren Conrad Makes Her mark

Yesterday afternoon, Avon Products, Inc. announced their decision to partner with Lauren Conrad, a.k.a. LC, star of the MTV show The Hills. Lauren will be collaborating with Avon's young women brand called mark, which is the beauty and fashion boutique brand of Avon Products, Inc.

Lauren will be working on both beauty and fashion and will be featured in the mark's online community and their magalog (a combination of part magazine and part catalog). In the future they also hope to develop an exclusive line of products that will be co-branded.

Claudia Poccia, Global President of mark said,

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Lauren - a young woman who is making her mark in the world. As an aspiring fashion designer and talented young woman, Lauren is a perfect fit for our mark brand. Here's what Lauren has to say about her new found role:

"I've been a mark fan since it launched and I look forward to collaborating with mark on future products as I realize my own dream of becoming a fashion designer." "My parents taught me that I can do anything I want to and to never give up - to me that is what mark is all about, helping young women realize their dreams."

Lauren who now works for Teen Vogue in Los Angeles as well as is enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising moved to LA to pursue her dream of working in fashion. It looks like Lauren's dreams are coming true.

While I was ooh-ing and ahh-ing about Lola Cosmetics SocialEyes Gel Eye Colour yesterday, I got to thinking about just how much great waterproof makeup is available these days. Not just the old-reliable mascara, but also eye shadows, liners, cheek colors, and foundations that stay put through Summer swims, sweat, and smudges.

Lauren Conrad Has a Heart and Poses Pretty

Lauren Conrad laughed alongside a few girls at a photo shoot in NYC earlier today. She and the models were sporting her Have a Heart necklaces, which are part of her accessories collection with Mark cosmetics to benefit victims of domestic violence. Lauren's had a full schedule while in Manhattan, stopping by Rebecca Minkoff's show in a fashionable top and walking the red carpet at the VMAs on Sunday. She also recently shared her Fall styling tips to promote her new Kohl's fashion collection, which is on sale now. The Hills is returning without Lauren this season, but it looks like she has enough to keep herself occupied without all of the show's latest drama.

All Aboard! The Nars 2009 Autumn Colour Collection Is Here

Not only does this year mark the 15th anniversary for Nars Cosmetics, but last Monday was the highly anticipated launch of the brand new six-item Autumn 2009 Colour Collection. The inspiration behind the goodies came from none other than the young and precocious icon, Lolita. François Nars was "looking for a model who could represent the modern, independent woman, but who also had a girlish, innocence about her."

It's funny, because I thought the ad campaign doll looking model was Lily Donaldson, but it's actually a Canadian beauty named Heather Marks whose career began in 2003 with Givenchy. The photographs were taken in New York City by François Nars himself, and Heather is wearing the products from the '09 line whose names incidentally were influenced by Nars' pursuits and interests, yet they don't necessarily have any direct correlation to Lolita.

My favourite product is a nail varnish called Tokaido Express (£12.50). From a distance it looks black, but up close it's a purple shade with gold flecks that look rich, exciting and ridiculously chic. Wearing this polish is akin to wearing a fabulous cuff or statement piece.

Fast Ride Lipstick: (£17) is an edgy, dark mulberry (and totally intimidating lipstick) that falls somewhere between an intense stain, and a gothy purple. What I love is its that the sheen keeps it looking fashion forward and seductive.
Mekong Single Eyeshadow: (£15) is a must for those with green or hazel eyes. The black-brown shadow contains rose gold flecks that make green eyes pop!
Silk Road Duo Eyeshadow: (£23) is a new pair of powder shadows that were influenced from traditional damask fabrics. One side houses a frosty pink whilst the other side is a rosey gold with golden shimmer.
Brumes Duo Eyeshadow: (£23) is another new powder shadow duo that has a matte charcoal shade one side (great as a liner or for the ultimate smoky eye) and the other side is a sparkly sky blue hue.
Indian Summer Duo Eyeshadow: (£23) is the most fashion forward of the eyeshadow pairs. Inside there's a frosted khaki shade beside a bold, matte, mustardy colour.
Tokaido Express Nail Polish: (£12.50) is black-plum varnish enhanced with finely milled gold sparkles and is named after Japan’s famed high-speed railway. From afar you'd think it's black, if you look a little bit closer, it's far more interesting!

Beauty Byte: Top 100 Beauty Money-Making Brands of 2008

I'm sure you haven't been holding your breath for this release, but if the business side of beauty has always been as intriguing to you as it has to me, I think you'll find the statistics of the top 100 beauty company earners of 2008 quite interesting. The glosses, fragrances and pick-me-up eye shadows that we buy to make ourselves look and feel better add up to some serious poundage and have made brands a full fledged fortune. In '08 alone, the cosmetics industry have scrounged together a whopping $168.21 Billion (that's roughly £105 Billion).

The U.S. ranks the highest with 33 companies on the list, followed by France with 13, Japan with 11, Italy with 10, Germany with eight, and seven in the UK. Other countries include South Korea, Switzerland, Brazil, Russia, Belgium, China, Finland, Latvia, Peru, Spain and Sweden. The sales calculated are from fragrance, skincare, sun care products, makeup, haircare, deodorant, anti-cellulite and shaving products only.

L'Oreal Group: They celebrated their 100th anniversary in June and raked in over $25.81 Billion this past fiscal year. Unilever: This London company made $15.5 Billion in 2008 and is the parent company for Axe/Lynx, Impulse, Rexona/Sure, Degree, Dove, Lux, Pond’s, Suave, Sunsilk/Seda/Sedal/Hazeline, Clear and Vaseline.
Believe it or not, but The Estee Lauder Companies took a hit this year. However, they still managed to conjure up in $7.85 Billion in sales. You're all familiar with some of their brands like: Estée Lauder, Jo Malone, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Lab Series, Origins, MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger, Kiton, La Mer, Donna Karan, Aveda, Bumble and bumble, Darphin, Michael Kors, Sean John, Missoni, Tom Ford Beauty, Mustang, Coach, Ojon and Good Skin.
Avon Products earned over $7.6 Billion in 2008 as an umbrella company for their brands: Avon Color, Anew, Skin-So-Soft, Advanced Techniques Hair Care, Avon Naturals, Avon Wellness, Mark, Derek Jeter, Patrick Dempsey, Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix and Marimekko.

LC Explains the Story Behind Her Iconic Braid

Lauren Conrad is known for a lot of things: her stint on The Hills, her clothing line, and her contract with Mark cosmetics. And when it comes to her look, it's hard to picture her without a sweet side braid.

PopSugar caught up with LC and Lo this past weekend, and among other things - including a little Pattinson talk, swoon - they chatted about Lauren's hairstyle. "I've gone a little overkill with the braid," she admitted. "I cut my own bangs, so I have to braid it back a lot. I have weird Girl, Interrupted bangs going on." Not sure if they're weird, per se, but they're certainly trend-setting - and just another trick to add to the list of ways to grow out your bangs.
