Angelina Jolie is back this year at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival looking ravishing as ever. So far we've seen her dolled in a pretty peach gown for the premiere of Inglourious Basterds. I know that she's there supporting Brad, however she's totally stolen the spotlight off of him on the red carpet.

In the past week alone we've seen Jodie Kidd model new St. Tropez tanning products, Chloë Sevigny attended the Chloe Los Angeles Boutique opening and Alexis Bledel went to a Tribeca Film Festival premiere, all with a bright and flirty poppy pout.

Last night at the Adventureland Premiere in Los Angeles, actress Kristen Stewart arrived looking more mature (and dare I say polished) than usual. Her hair was swept into a chignon and her makeup was soft except for her bold red lipstick choice. Kristen usually opts for a minimalist makeup style like we see below, so this splash of colour is a real treat.

History repeats itself, even when it comes to fashion and beauty. So, it's no surprise to see red lipstick making it's appearance on the autumn catwalks again, and I must say, that I'm quite relieved that deep purples and blood-coloured goth-inspird lips are taking a break and giving the classics a chance to make their return. Red lips abounded on the red carpet at the NME's in a range of shades. Singer Florence Welch arrived with a vibrant, true cherry-red hue. Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding wore a goth, blood-red colour, and Jamaican-American model, actress and singer Grace Jones sported a look I haven't seen since the 80's — she rimmed her lips with a deep red-black lip liner!

What I like most about a red lip is that it doesn't have to be too fussy, as the ladies of the 2009 red carpet prove. Whether it was subtle and matte like Anne Hathaway or bold and raspberry-toned à la Alicia Keys, it just goes to show you that red-toned lipstick is always en vogue. Puckering up for the "Kiss For a Cause" event, the 90210 actress helped raise money for the National AIDS Fund at the Armani Exchange in Santa Monica by handing out sweet snacks and greeting shoppers in a kissing booth.
