I went to work like this and thought I would share. Nothing spectacular but I wanted to show you guys my favorite red lipstick. If you want a bold red lipstick that screams LOOK AT ME, definitely try this on. You instantly feel sexy and made up even if you have little makeup on.

This is a true retro red. Be forewarned that this is a very, very matte lipstick. I love that about Ruby Woo, although I am sure some of you guys don't like mattes. There are some benefits of it being so matte: absolutely no feathering and it lasts forever! I can literally eat and I will only need a light touchup. Some might find it a touch drying, so keep your balm nearby or you can apply a balm underneath. Of course you can add a gloss, but I just love the matte finish. If you are ready for a true blue red that'll have heads turning, run to a MAC counter now!

Urban Outfitters has been putting out some pretty cool retro-meets-modern gadgets lately, from a USB-powered turntable to calculator watches. The latest affordable addition: the Mini Boom Box Speaker. At only $16, the price is definitely right - and while these build-them-yourself speakers probably aren't sturdy enough for the long haul, they're a cute and compact option for portable speakers.

Get Your Retro Game On With Pac-Man and Atari Controllers

Although I can keep up with the best of them when it comes to modern warfare games like Gears of War and Halo, being the vintage geek that I am, I can't help but hold my favorite old-school arcade games close to my heart. So even though I can't find Galaga at an arcade within a five-mile walking radius of my apartment (I'd go pretty far to drop a few quarters in that baby), I could play right at home with these Pac-Man and Atari game controllers.

These all-in-one controllers hook right up to your TV and provide hours of arcade gaming entertainment (they each include 10 games or more) for a mere $40. Which, let's face it, would be less than I'd drop at my local Pizza Palace arcade during any given month in the '90s.

Urban Outfitters isn't the first place you'd think to get your tech fix, but it has been raising the bar when it comes to offering up retro gadgets like record players and old-school typewriters. Blame it on the retro costuming of Mad Men, but I'm seeing checkered patterns everywhere these days. Checks look great on copywriter Peggy Olson, and I have a feeling they'd look fab in your home as well.

Love It or Hate It? Rotary Phones

I remember using a rotary phone at my grandmother's when I was a little kid; in fact, I'm pretty sure she still has one in her home! Now that we're all fully loaded with cell phones, BlackBerrys, iPhones, and the like, I'm feeling a little nostalgic for the look, and the ritual, of dialing a rotary phone. Plus, they look so much better than your standard cordless.

You can snap up a cute Crosley Kitchen Phone ($54) at Urban Outfitters, but it's a push-button phone, not a rotary dialer. For the real deal, check your local flea market.

10 Old-School Looks That Could Be Worn Today

There's nothing like curling up and watching old movies and TV shows, especially when there's so much inspiration to be found in the hair and makeup looks of the leading ladies. Think Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface and Mary Stuart Masterson in Some Kind of Wonderful, both of which could be easily worked into a contemporary look. I've gathered up some of my favorites from days past, but I'd also love to hear some of your top picks, too.

Found It! Retro Side Table in Away We Go

The rusty blue side table beside Maya Rudolph's character in Away We Go looks like it has seen better days. But I do love its retro charm. It brings character to a little corner of a lush garden beside a comfortable bench. I'd love to have a fresher version though, perhaps in a more versatile color. Luckily, that wish is not far off.
