Liv Tyler looked gorgeous last night on the red carpet. Her skin was pale, yet slightly dewy and radiant. Her makeup was minimal, and her hair looked relaxed in loose, effortless sexy, beachy waves.

I love a girl who can look comfortable at a big-time Hollywood event, don't you? If any of you are interested in re-creating this hairstyle at home, all you'll need is a product that provides slight hold, a hair dryer, a curling iron, and a wide-toothed comb.

STEP 1: After you wash and condition your hair, gently towel dry and get rid of snarls and tangles by using a wide-toothed comb. Either get dressed or apply your makeup so that you hair has time to air-dry a little bit.
STEP 2: Apply a texturizing styling product such as Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray to your damp hair from roots to ends. Tip: Keep in mind that if your hair is slightly curly or thick, you'll want to apply product while your hair is still very wet, fresh from the shower. Also, if your hair is oily, only apply product to the lengths and ends, avoiding your roots.
STEP 3: Once you've applied the product, it's time to dry your hair. Set your hairdryer to the coolest, lowest setting and tousle hair until it's dry.
STEP 4: Since this is a sleeker version of the typical wavy, (slightly frizzy) beach hair, you'll want to add shine and refine the waves. Take a curling iron and use it like a flat-iron on the roots of your hair to make it smoother. As you get a third of the way down, curl hair around the barrel and let it sit for about 10 seconds. When you are finished with your entire head, shake out the curls, finger a few back into place and mist your entire head with a light-hold hairspray.

DIY Spa Treatment: Super-Sexy Beach Hair

Fabrice Gilli, my amazing hairdresser and Creative Director of Frederic Fekkai Soho, has divulged one of his quick and easy, at-home recipes for beautiful beach waves. Since you already know how to create this look yourself, and you're aware of the various beach hair products on the market, thanks to Fabrice, you can save a few pennies and stock up on sunscreens instead! Here's an inexpensive way to attain sexy beach waves on a miniscule budget.

Step 1: Take an empty and clean spray bottle and fill it up with eight ounces of water.
Step 2: Add two heaping tablespoons of kosher or sea salt to the water and shake.
Step 3: Mix a teaspoon of your favorite hair gel to the saltwater solution and shake it once again. This will give hair a little bit more texture.
Step 4: Spray a liberal amount onto wet or very damp hair and do not brush through-finger-comb only if necessary. Scrunch hair in your hands to help curls form, or just leave it be and let it air dry naturally.

Salty, wavy, thick beach hair is super-sexy - and it doesn't have to be something that you only achieve in the summertime by the sand. Here's how to achieve this faboo tousled wind blown look during the rest of the year.

First, shampoo and condition your hair before bed and towel dry your hair. Evenly distribute either a mousse or product with hold to it, in even sections throughout your hair. If you have thick or wavy hair, apply a relaxing balm to smooth your curls and tame frizz. Comb through.
Next, scrunch your hair before you fall asleep and when you wake, your hair will have great texture and volume.
To fix the front, just wet and blow out the pieces that are funky. Then take a large sized curling iron and wrap about ten different pieces around it to give your hair some freshness, body and bounce.

Hair How To: Easy Sexy Beach Hair

Hair trends are one thing – from the polished dreadlocks and pirate plaits on the catwalks, to retro styles, like Victoria Beckham's Audrey Hepburn do – but what we all really crave is effortlessly sexy hair, that looks like it's naturally gorgeous – not like we've had to try too hard to re-create it.

Cue the covetable, grown-up version of beach hair. Textured, yet glossy and voluminous, it's the sort of laidback, tousled look that Kates Moss, Middleton and Beckinsale, are often snapped with. Sometimes dubbed Polished Festival Hair – think gutsy, free-spirited almost-waves and a youthful vibe.

Firstly, it's all in the proportions. Volume should be at the ends, not on the head. Aim for a triangular shape on long hair, and try and get the texture and volume in the length, instead of loading up the roots.

It's pretty much a trial and error game, depending on your hair texture, but here's some tips for getting the look: Just read more

Firstly, get a little bit of volume at the roots – otherwise it will just look odd, and too triangular. Blow dry just the roots. At the start, do this with your head upside down if you have thin hair.
Instead of using a brush, just finger comb as you blow dry, or use a wide toothed comb, to get that 'undone' texture.
Once your hair is about 70% dry, spritz it with a texture spray, such as the cult Bumble & Bumble SurfSpray, (£16). The salt, mixed with product, will give you a mussed-up, beach head look.
If you have curly hair, it's best to blow dry the hair straight, using a very large, round brush. Then, once the hair is almost dry, mix the texture spray with a little more water, and spritz hair lightly.
Now, this part depends on your hair texture – for some, leave the rest of the hair to dry naturally, and just twist a few sections around your fingers, like a bored teenager would. If your hair has a tendency to waves, this is all you'll need to do.
If your hair is very straight, or thick, then plait now, and leave to dry. Zoe Irwin, Creative Director at Headmaster's tells Harper's Bazaar, that she does this, and suggests "Running straightening irons up the plaits to give them extra texture. Let them cool, then un-braid them, and finger comb".
Alternatively, try wrapping random sections of hair, around a giant hot tong. Don't wrap all the hair though, just pick certain sections, to keep the look haphazard and textured.
The new buzz words are tousled, tangly, textured and sexily un-done. The more you twist, twirl and generally play with your hair, the better it will look.

You can still rock a come-hither look, without going the route of the old-timey roller set-style, either. At Milan Fashion Week, Hilary Swank looked stunning with waved hair that avoided being too prim and proper. What I like most about her loose, softly rolled curls is that they're not perfectly pouffed, but they still have that sensuous factor without being too in-your-face sexpot. New York Fashion Week, Spring 2010: Proenza Schouler

I have completely fallen for the gorgeous colour palette at Proenza Schouler where tropical blues and greens were the order of the day. There were plenty of fun dresses in neon shades adorned with fringing and feathers. The bright shades were contrasted against beach blonde hair. The Spring line was a development of the resort collection which was Tahiti-inspired. There was a lot of energy overall which created excitement for the new year and the design duo even admitted to deliberately editing down the line to leave people wanting more! Despite the use of tie dye, the clothing ended up being more rave than boho, possibly owing to the cut of the frocks which were subtly sexy. What do you think of the collection?

Kate Moss, Jamie Hince and model gal pal Karen Mulder spent some time this week on a buddy's yacht in the South of France partying and taking in the surf and sand. After a dip in the Med, Karen cared for her long, blonde hair by rinsing it off with fresh water so that the salt from the sea didn't dry it out, whilst Kate just left her hair alone.

After a dunk, I typically apply some kind of SPF hair product to protect my locks and then comb it through so that it dries into sexy beach waves. Do you rinse off your hair after a swim in an ocean or pool?

How To: Get Jade Jagger's Beachy Waves

STEP 1: Prep hair by washing with a volumizing (protein-enhanced) shampoo and conditioner such as Kiehl's Amino Acid Shampoo (£16) and TRESemme Volume Pro Vitamin B5 Volume Conditioner (£2.93). Rinse well and repeat if necessary.
STEP 2: After you've gently toweled dried your hair, brush it out using a wide tooth comb. Next, apply both a heat protecting spray all over and a volumising spray at the roots such as Real Hair Style Volume Plumper (£14).
STEP 3: The key ingredient for sexy, voluminous, beachy hair is a salt, or wave-enhancing spray. I really like the new Summer Hair Marine Beach Waves from Frédéric Fekkai (£20) because it's light, non-greasy, non-sticky, it smells incredible and it's hydrating. Spritz a generous amount all over on damp hair and finger comb through.
STEP 4: Lastly, using your fingers, create a casual part. Next, scrunch hair gently in your hands to define the waves if hair is slightly wavy or straight. If you can let your hair dry naturally, that's preferred, however, if hair is too thick or curly, hold the ends taught with one hand and use quick flickering motions with your dryer with the other until hair is 80% dry. This should help reduce moisture and the definition of your natural curls.
