Kate Moss has got a new gig: she's just been named the new face of Kérastase hair products. The British model already works with Rimmel London on makeup and nail campaigns, and even has a line of fragrances. And now for 2013, she's rounding out her beauty portfolio, care of Kérastase. Kate will represent the brand's Couture Styling Range that launches this June. If this short announcement spot above (which also features Artistic Director Luigi Murenu in action) has anything to do with the upcoming campaign, we're sure to love what the two Ks have created. It's elegant, chic, and timeless . . . just like Kate.
Thakoon's Fall 2013 presentation included makeup and hair that made a statement — and was hard to miss. Makeup artist Diane Kendal took inspiration from the collection, which was inspired by Summer. "We wanted to reflect that in the makeup, so we did a very dark midnight blue shadow, but to get that Summer feel we added glitter on top. It created the perfect juxtaposition between Winter and Summer." As far as the hair goes, think sharp, graphic, and modern: bangs placed on half of the forehead and cut short, creating a youthful, girlish style with an edge.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Jason Wu at Fall 2013 New York Fashion Week, where the women are strong and cool, and the makeup is bold and daring. One thing Jason doesn't lack? Vision. He worked with Lancôme's Diane Kendal on that perfect indigo shade, a mix of liners, and a shadow — which included a key shade from his upcoming collaboration with Lancôme — for the exaggerated winged look. Odile Gilbert for Kérastase created an elegant, tucked-and-folded bun for a tidy, woven coif, which is best described as a bob-meets-chignon.

What's the first thing you think of when you hear "hair oil"? If you're thinking argan, you're in the majority — it seems as if lately this amber oil has dominated the hair oil discussion. But argan isn't always enough, and Kérastase's Elixir Ultime ($54) is here to prove that. A potent cocktail of four different oils, this hair serum can be used in a slew of ways: as a preshampoo treatment, a leave-in conditioner, for postblow-dry smoothing, or for a serious dose of shine.
The secret? The four fabulous oils, of course. Maize oil delivers on the shine, while pracaxi oil deep-conditions your strands. Camellia oil smooths out the hair fiber and our old friend argan acts as a barrier to protect hair from external aggressors. A four-in-one treatment that takes care of all of our beauty woes? We're thinking 2013 will be the year of flawless hair.
Avant-garde looks are impressive sights to behold during Fashion Week, but sometimes it's the more wearable ones that turn out to be the most memorable. And Jill Stuart's Fall 2012 show falls into the latter category. Odile Gilbert (for Kérastase) explained how models walked the runway with "sexy, but touchable" hair that was "natural and real." As for makeup, the palette consisted of stand-out purple shadows paired with a hint-of-color lip hue. The outcome blurred the line between slightly edgy, yet fresh and approachable.
Building on the explosive success of his collection for Target, Jason Wu wowed the fashion world with his Fall 2012 collection. The beauty look was all about warrior women, with high ponytails and a strong but sexy eye. Get caught up on one of Fashion Week's most stunning looks so far. On Annie: Topshop.
For the hair, Kerastase's Odile Gilbert created a volumized base with the brand's Volumactive mousse. Once dry, Lotion Densitive and Double Force hair spray were applied for texture and the hair scrunched to enhance wave and movement. To add a few playful touches, hair was then deep-parted with one side rolled back into a side-swept fringe. In addition, a single hidden strand behind the ear was braided, so that "when they [the models] walk, it comes out," explained Gilbert.
For the makeup, Diane Kendal went for a '70s-inspired, "sophisticated bohemian" look. After rimming the inside of the eyes with a soft black kohl liner, she applied a black cream liner on the top lash lines, blending to diffuse. And if you've ever wondered how to make a stained lip look last, Kendal has the answer. Of the pink and orange shades featured in the show, she advised, "It's just a wash of color, but because they're neon, it makes it very bright."
At Phillip Lim Fall 2011, Odile Gilbert chats about the hairstyle she created for the show. Makeup artist Lisa Butler shares her forecast for fall eye shadow trends and tells us about the makeup look that models wore on the runway.
