Splurge of the Week: Kérastase Nutri-Thermique

A couple of weeks ago, Kérastase sent a package of its new Nutri-Thermique hair care collection.

A couple of weeks ago, Kérastase sent a package of its new Nutri-Thermique hair care collection. Naturally, the first thing Mr. Bella did was put his nose by the shampoo.

"This smells like Holiday Inn stuff," he said.

"But it's French," I harrumphed. "They don't even have Holiday Inn in France!" (Not true.)

Fast-forward to our next date. I show up after using the shampoo and conditioner, then blow-drying my hair without any products. At one point, Mr. Bella smells my hair and says, "Wow, your hair smells really good." Sigh.

At any rate, he's right: the shampoo leaves a beautiful, soft floral scent. More importantly, it cuts down on frizz and flyaways, plus I can go one extra day without washing. At $34 for the shampoo and $38 for the conditioner, these items are definite splurges. But if it fits into your budget — or you merely seek great-smelling hair care — it's worth a look.

Kerastase Chronologiste Review

Fact: Blake Lively and Rachel Weisz both have enviably shiny, smooth hair. Fact: both of them are fans of Kérastase's new (and most luxurious) hair treatment, Chronologiste.

Oh, and here's another fact: my hair has been fried by a new dryer lately. Frizz city, population: me. So when I was invited to try the 30-minute "in-salon ritual," I jumped at the chance to make my hair a bit more Lively. The mix of lipids, emollients, and vitamins promises to strengthen hair, heal the scalp, and create shine and softness. Reader Review of the Day: Kérastase Resistance Substance Constructive Leave-In Conditioner

The good news? The end of cold weather is approaching.

The good news? The end of cold weather is approaching. The bad news? Perhaps your hair has taken a beating. Recently reader DCStar tried out Kérastase Resistance Substance Constructive Leave-In Conditioner ($28), a treatment that helps improve damaged hair. Here's what she thought:

Kérastase never disappoints, in my opinion, and this product fits right in with my high expectations. After washing, I took a nickel-sized amount in my palms and rubbed it through the ends of my hair, working back towards the roots (but not above ear-level), and then used a blow-dryer as usual. My hair looked model perfect, straight, and with fewer flyaways than usual. The smell is an added treat all day long — every time you toss your gorgeous hair. I definitely recommend it.

I'm a fan, too — it does smell amazing. Do you love reviewing products? Well, then it's time to head over to our Product Reviews website. To sweeten the pot, we're having an amazing contest right now. For every three quality reviews you submit, you're entered for a chance to win a $500 gift certificate from Benefit Cosmetics. Woo hoo!

Bellissima! Kerastase Specifique Bain Divalent Balancing Shampoo

There are some things that are beyond my understanding: The pyramids, tetraneutrons, why Heidi Montag came out with a record.

There are some things that are beyond my understanding: The pyramids, tetraneutrons, why Heidi Montag came out with a record. I now consider Kerastase's new shampoo, Bain Divalent ($27), one of them. This shampoo is for those with a greasy scalp and dry ends — a.k.a. combination hair. Those with dry hair know what it's like to skip a few shampoos in hopes of getting silky ends, only to find your roots so greasy that by the time you do wash, you need a clarifying shampoo, putting you back at square one. How a shampoo can know where your scalp is and where your ends are is beyond me. While lathering up with it, your roots feel less oily and your ends feel silky. Of course, $27 is a lot to go (literally) down the drain, so you could also use two different shampoos, one on roots and one on ends. But if you're a busy lady with a little cash to burn, give it a try!
